We, the People, hereby request......

Not sure anyone else is paying attention.

Does it matter?

Seriously, it would be nice to get an opinion from Ethan and Toooj. I'm sure that even if they like the concept it would have to be refined, prototyped, tested. It's going to be a while. I'd like to find a way to modify an 11 and a set of scales into a working prototype. I'm not allowed to touch power tools though. I cause too much damage.

oh, and happy 200!

LOL. No, no it doesn't really matter.:D

So far, we haven't heard a word from Ethan or Toooj, and who knows if or when we will. You're right though, even if they did want to release it, it would be awhile.

Making a folder is actually fairly complicated and, without power tools, well... good luck.

Well, thanks, but that's just 200 on this thread.

I am beginning to be a bit disappointed that neither has even made a comment.

Been weeks now since ethan has even made a post in his own forum?

I understand being busy to a point but to completely ignore your own products forums makes me feel not so good. I scan this forum everyday and it doesn't take more than a few minutes. He could check in once a week at least I would think.

Don't forget that tonight the actual KA-BAR dude will be doing a chat, so sign in and participate.

Any word on how this is going?

No, not really. Toooj mentioned in the chat hosted by ESEE/Mrs. Shotgunner that he liked it (I don't know how much, because I haven't talked to him), but we haven't heard a word from Ethan yet. Ethan's approval is critical, of course, because it's his name that goes on the blade.

In other words... no, no word.

Nice DB. Why say in 3 words what you can say in 30? Didn't we have that conversation a month ago, vice versa?

Well, all I can say is the someone has to build Bob's knife. My usual EDC is a 440C Buck 110, because it is tough, good looking and has an excellent steel. Bob's knife would chase that 110 away. The design is brilliant, clean and down to business. If the good people at Becker/Ka-Bar don't build the knife, they will be making a big mistake, IMHO.

I'm sorry if this has already been discussed but just what would you like the dimensions of the blade to be dawsonbob.

It has been, but it's a long thread and I wouldn't be surprised if you missed it.:D

Remember that this is a pretty beefy knife based on the BK-2 — an even beefier knife. I wouldn't make it quite that large, of course (1/4 inch thick on a folder would be a bit much).

The size hasn't been finalized yet, but what I had in mind was a blade that was about 3 7/8 inches long, and .1875 (3/16) inches thick. That's plenty thick for a folder, in my opinion.

3/16 sounds awesome. Maybe a few diff blade lengths down the road? That is if toooj ever gets on board.

I don't see any reason not to have variations on this design if it were to become as big a seller as I think it would be.

In the chat that was held awhile ago, Toooj did say he liked it, but that was just a passing remark. I'd love it if he emailed me about it, but he has other things to do, so who knows?

It's Ethan's thoughts that we're waiting for. Becker is his brand, and his name goes on the blade, so he's the one who has to say yea or nay. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, because I really would like to see this knife come to market: I think it would be a huge seller.

Someone suggested in an email that I do a minor redesign, and let someone else produce it. Before anyone else suggests the same thing, I want to say that I designed this thing to be a Becker, and a Becker it will be... if it is at all.

I'm funny like that.

What about a limited run of uncoated knives. It would be easy and cost less ( in materials ) and wouldn't require any special production needs, just skip the step where they coat it
