We were all new here once

I'd like to say that there are some very patient, helpful posters here and it really is nice to experience. I'm new to collecting knives and man, it can become an obsession. Yikes!

I've been beating up my bank account with new purchases - "gotta-haves!" - and as I'm learning from reading tons of posts on various sub-forums I'm becoming much more educated on this new hobby. I'm on here numerous times a day, every day.

I'd like to say many thanks to those that have been helpful.

And, if you've read any of my posts, I've noticed they are way too long and am working on shortening them. Dang journalism degree! Have the same problem with emails but it will get better.

Hey Greykilt,

congratulations on surviving your rough start.
But I think your list is missing the (imho) most important point:
#8 HAVE FUN! ;)

Best regards,
Nal0n

Thank you NalOn, I'm adding #8 right now. I am actually having a very good time here. I'm on the forum every day.

Hey guys. New to the forum. Long time knife collector.
I was just wondering on what people take is on the kabar usmc in leather was. Ive always been drawn to this knife and just have never gone and got one. I would like this to be a survival knife and just wonder what people have to say about it and how it performs. Im a little concerned with it not being full tang but hoping all you kabar carriers can give me a little insight. Thanks

Be prepared Mattsacre, a question like that brings both Pros and Cons from different members. All are fun to read. When you ask if a type of knife is good or bad or what's the best to carry or what do you recommend, you can get some passionate answers from people..
." my uncle had a ka-bar.......carried for twenty years......the tumor vanished!...." stuff like that. I agree with Killgar, post that question as a new thread. And Welcome!

First post.
Here because I should have done my home work. lol Always had an EDC knife.
Been slowly upgrading. Just got a ZT 0770 most money I ever spent on a knife. Had it 10 minutes and the pocket clip broke off. Crap
Looking forward to learning more about good knives.

Greetings from OHIO.

I made a New Years resolution to make a knife, finally.
I have mostly mediocre knives in the kitchen and a Douk-Douk I use at work in my lunch kit.
I have my sights set on a chefs knife. Likely will not forge this go around, sticking with an old saw blade or other high carbon scrap. Would love to meet up with others in North East Ohio, a beer for some shop talk.

Catch ya 'round

Welcome to Bladeforums.

You can't completely delete your post, all you can do is delete the text and replace it with something like the word "deleted".

Don't be discouraged, you'll get the hang of it with practice and familiarity. No one will think poorly of you if you make a mistake.

Also, sometimes the posting process doesn't function perfectly on this site, like for example- when user volume is high. Every once in awhile I have difficulty posting because of this reason.

Hello, we are new to bladeforum. There is nothing better than a handmade (in the USA) military knife!

Hey, figured this would be a good place to introduce myself. I'm Angus and live in Virginia after a recent move. Been reading the forums for reviews and opinions for a while so I figured I'd finally join the fun. How's everybody? Anyone get anything fun for new years? Just got the CRKT Redemption, not loving the handle...

What's the difference from the regular worksharp? I was thinking of getting that one since it was a god bit cheaper then the Ken Onion one.

Nube here....just saw this sticky......hope I dont get "stuck" by any swordman....ahem, swordspeople, out there.... glad to have this wealth of info that I have found so far.....hope I survive any "stab-in".....lol

It's a little weird to think of myself as a "newbie" even though I'm new to this site. I've been a user of good quality USA made knives for more than 50 years, but haven't kept up with developments since the 70s. Why, the fact that Schrade is now mostly Chinese junk caught me by surprise; that's how out of touch I've been. Going back to my Boy Scout days, I've used Camillus, Buck, Ka-Bar (USMC service way back in the last century) Case and a Victorinox SAK, which is about my only experience with good foreign-made steel.

Just browsing and lurking has really expanded my horizons. Lots of good folks and good knowledge on this site to help an old fart catch up what's been happening as I sat back fat, dumb, and happy for a few decades.

Greetings! New to the forum but I EDC and have been interested in knives for quite some time. Of the manufacturers that I own, never had Spyderco in my collection. I don't know why, guess I have been primarily interested in assisted opening, fixed, and multi-tools. I recently decided to remedy this and acquired two new Spydercos. Thank you BladeForum members for sharing your knowledge and reviews.

you are 100% correct, we can say act right, do as God intended, just be nice , whatever. This should not have ever rec'd any neg. feedback. It is the manly of womanly thing to do. period. New people sometimes, just new here. But may have more knowledge about knives than any single person here. Who cares about spelling, do you spell on phone conversations , face to face, if you want a spelling bee, wrong place.

An excellent post Mr. Killgar. Thank you.

This post should be manditory reading for all members on their 1-year aniversary here and then again, perhaps, every thousand or so posts.

Many good points above... The main frustration for me (and some of you too, I imagine) is that sometimes a noob asks a question that has already been answered multiple times. It's easy for me to criticize the noob for not doing their research before posting a redundant question because, when I was a noob, I did the research and only posted my Q if I couldn't find an answer with reasonable diligence. My typical response would be to provide links to previous threads with the answers...

Hi everyone. Im new here, but not to forums. Some of you might recognize me from another knife forum. Im mainly into Victorinox, Leatherman, and Gerber, but am interested in everything sharp and pokey. :D I really like flashlights as well. I couldn't live without my Zebralight SC52. Anyways, i'm glad to be here and have a new place to waste more of my time..... :p

My name is Dane. I am 21 years old. I have been on this forum for about 2 weeks now. I somewhat introduced myself on my first thread I started. I have always had a pocket knife. But I honestly do not know much about them. I have always had a cheap, generic pocketknife laying around and when it got broke or lost, I would just replace them with another cheap, generic knife. I am now starting to get into the knife collecting hobby. I do not know much about knives. That is why I joined this forum. And since I have been on here, I have learned a ton of new things and everyone has given me great advice and has been kind and patient with me as I learn and ask silly questions. I appreciate that. There are good people on this forum and I look forward to sharing and learning with you all!
