FNG here :o

Hey, everyone starts someplace and being a part of internet forums is all part of the game. I'm not new to blades and hawks but just new to this forum. I'm a car & gun guy by nature and now finally expanding my horizons to this forum.

Hello, I'm new to the forum too. I need to learn about the making knife for improve myself. My english language is not good i will use translate help some time.Thank you every one .

Im new here. Getting into knives. I looking for nice survival knife and have bunch knives from my father that I have to figure out how to get rid of.

Been reading for a while, just started adding handles to knife blanks as a hobby to keep my hands busy since I quit smoking cigarettes. Thoroughly enjoying the craft, and hope to move into making blades soon enough. Lots of information here, thanks for having me!

Original post doesn't seem like it makes this an introduction thread but people seem to think it is, and it's stickied so I guess I'll introduce myself. My name is Ryan and I'm 23 years old. I've loved knives for most of my life starting when my father gave me a Swiss Army Knife to "look after for him" when I was 6. My knife collection at this point is somewhere near 3 dozen, quite a few of which are crap bought during a time when I didn't know any better, but some of which are quite nice. I'm currently training to be an EMT, but I'm also seriously contemplating a military career.

Hello All, new to the forum but this thread makes being here so encouraging. I only have a SAK explorer as my knife but i would want to edc and buy my first real dedicated knife. Thanks and looking forward to hang out here!!!

Short time lurker honestly. That EDCIII thread got me hooked. I've been a budget enthusiast for about eight years now but never posted on a blade forum before. I own a few things, nothing too fancy, mostly Cold Steel and CRKT stuff in the $40-80 range since that's about My budget. Though I did order My first Kershaw(Turbulence) after viewing the above mentioned thread. I look forward to posting with ya'll.

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum also. I've read many threads in the past 2 weeks and I'm really enjoying reading your posts.
I'm not real sure how to use this forum yet so please pardon me for posting in the wrong thread.
I have a question that I hope you can help me sort out. I've been researching the Kershaw Leek and I see it in MANY variations. I'm wondering which one is the best. I've changed my mind probably ten times now on which one I want.
I like the plain blade.(no serration). I've narrowed it down to the leek 1660SWBLK, 1660CKT or the 1660OL, I believe. I see those knives listed for $37 to $100 each. After reading the description of the $37 knife and $100 knife (of the same leek model#) I've found no difference. Am I overlooking something or is the price range just that wide between dealers?
Any input/suggestions on which Leek you believe is the best would be much appreciated. Thanks!

You should start a thread in the general knife discussion forum to get this answered? I'm not that knowledgeable on Kershaw, or I would help you out. It is also helpful to link an email address to your account, and fill out your profile as completely as your comfortable with.

Hi, new to the forum. Just ordered my first "real" folders, a Kershaw Skyline and a Spyderco Tenacious. Looking forward to getting them. I will probably EDC the Skyline.

Greetings all - I'm new to the hobby as well as the forum. Rather late in the day (I'm 62), I've decided to collect traditional folding pocket knives. I've had a Victorinox for over 10 years, and it's been my daily companion, and frequently comes in useful. I've now added three Opinels, and a small collection of craftsman-made Sheffield knives by Trevor Ablett, Joseph Rodgers Ltd, A. Wright and Son, etc. I'm so ignorant that I'd never heard of or seen Damascus steel until a week or so ago, but I hope to learn more quickly, and get a damascus knife or two, because they are stunningly beautiful.

Greetings. Nice to join the community. At the age of 47, I realised that blades, in general, hold a great fascination for me. Thanks to a good friend of mine (who has adopted the hobby for some time), I started reading and watching on the www, anything related to blades. Be it reviews, articles of generic content, articles on skinnies, YouTube vids, OEM sites, this community etc. From my teenage years until recently, I have gradually acquired a small number of pocket knives (VICTORINOX mostly; the Rescue Tool included), a diving knife (Hi-Cut) and a multi-tool (a LEATHERMAN WAVE). And then, came the rest... Now I have a small, start-up collection of 10 knives (an assortment of COLD STEEL, KA-BAR and SOG; fixed blades and folding ones). My first was the COLD STEEL Spartan; my latest is the KA-BAR Dozier Hunter [folding; spear point]. Being a novice and a layperson on the subject, feel free to correct any (whatsoever) fault or nonsense that may appear in my texts, if and whenever I dare put down some words. Take care everyone and "DontBlameTheBlade"!

Much like the original threader and everyone who commented, this is why I finally decided to join & engage in the dialogue rather than sit the sidelines without feedback. I don't really take immature outbursts seriously anyway, but others may, and harsh criticisms or sarcastic remarks like "try searching google?" can generate bad PR or worse, make the newcomers leave with doubt.

Greetings all,

Apparently this is the place to come if you have a serious, serious problem with over indulgence of sharp objects. I am definitely in the right place. I've had an unusual interest in knives since I first got irritated at my best friend for leaving fingerprint smudges on the blade of my first Buck knife in high school. Now I am a full fledged addict of the blade collector guild. Today I just took delivery of my first Chris Reeve (Sebenza 21 - Large). It was a private sale, so I saved a few dollars. I can't believe it has taken me so long to get my mitts on a CRK. It is a true work of art, yet feels like a work horse also.

My collection includes: CRK, Benchmade, Microtech, Swiss Bianco, Swiss Army, Case, ZBuck, K-Bar, Al Mar, Schrade, Esee, CRKT, Gerber, Kershaw, SOG, JA Henckels, Orvis, Kronenkress, Marbels and a few others I can't readily identify. I have many Benchmades & Swiss Army, a couple of Microtechs and several multi-tools that get some carry time. Most of the others are singles.

As you probably surmise, I have been searching for the perfect EDC. I wandered off the trail every now and then for something a little larger, but ultimately manage to choose a daily carry.

Anyhow, am I going to get help here? If not, I hope to come away with some good technical info and maybe another recommendation or two for alternate EDCs.

Let me say thank you in advance for what I'm sure will be an enjoyable experience.
