We were all new here once

I joined bfc to find out about a Utica sportsman with a damascas blade I have. I found nothing on any sites related to Utica knives. Anyone know about them?

how old do i need to be to buy a knife at store? i'm 19now
Stores have their own sales policies. Some have age restrictions, some don't. And it's always possible that individual states/cities/counties might have their own laws regarding the sale of knives to minors.

I don't know what country you are in, but here in the US, at 19 years of age, you shouldn't have any problem buying a knife at any store that sells them and in any state/city/county where such stores are found. You're not a minor, so I'm sure any store would be happy to get your money.

Newb / Newbie - we were all that at one time. I'm still one here.

Noob / n00b - nah, you don't want to be one of them. ;)

Im new to. Recently at a bow building get together I sat across from a guy and made small talk while we made bows. after we were done it hit me that be had gone fro, stave to rough bow that would shoot with only one tool. It was a 12 inch Ontario machete that he had made new handles for and added a finger choil. he also collected the tree his stave came form with that very machete. So that got me reading and looking around at big knives. There are many out there in many diffrent price brackets and im sure they are good for what ever they are used for, but the machete is what has got my attention. I ordred myself a 12" and a 14" tramontina machete as well as the 12" Ontario and loved it becaust I dont think I spent 1/10th what I would have on a "bushcraft" or whatever knife. im not real intrested in the technical aspects of knives, other then it needs to stay sharp and cut stuff. I like the sheath making parts to a as well as the other do it your self aspects of all this to. look foward to hearing what you gotta say. Happy Halloween.

New guy here. I'm usually more of a lurker but I've gotten a lot of good information from this forum so I figured it was time to show some support. Hi all. :)

New to bf, but not forums in general. And yep, I'm breaking all my own rules by not reading through the last few pages of this thread. Figure I'll give myself a pass. Glad to make everyone's acquaintance.

New to BF. I have only started with blades within the last year. I used to think that, what are now ridiculous blades, were awesome. I am learning, and wish to use the knowledge here to learn a bit more. I have "googled" a great deal about knives, and always find a link to this forum. I have finally decided to join in, and gather "actual" knowledge about blades, rather than "youtube" socalled knowledge, as I see it.

I currently own blades from, Cold Steel (my first big folder), to benchmade, to emerson, to ZT, to Survive!, to protech, to my Grandfather's '61 Puma White Hunter and unknown Buck knife. It's a variety. I hope to find out a bit about all. I'm a noobe to knives. Be easy on me.

Welcome to Bladeforums.

To answer your question about identifying your knife, there is a sub-forum here at Bladeforums specifically for that purpose. To find it, click on the box that says "Forum" at the top left hand of the screen and under the Bladeforums logo. That will show you a complete forum directory. Look in the top box of the directory (the one listed as "Knife Specific Discussion"), and click on "Bernard Levines Knife Collecting and Identification". That's where you want to go to get a knife identified. But you might need to post pictures. And you have to be a paid member of this forum to ask how much a knife is worth.

Hi All I'm a Noob to this forum, but I have been on a few other knife & gun forums for years.
I have been playing with kydex lately & also doing some mods to other knives I like and for some reason when doing Google searches on the net for mods this forum keeps coming up.
Well I decided to join as there is more to learn here. Note: I'm from Middle Earth Kanada. A real place where Gun Laws SUCK!!!

Hello all,

I have been a member of Blade Forums for 12 years but I got into guns and sold off most of my collection. I find myself craving knives more and guns less and since I haven't posted since 2008 I thought I should come in and introduce myself. I am excited to read and learn all the new models, companies, etc. that have changed in the knife world since I followed it closely. See you all around the forums.

Thanks
Jason AKA TheBadGuy

I'm learning as I go and from what I can see there are some awesome folks on this forum that do everything they can to help out. Those few that don't I'll just ignore. Don't feed the trolls...
