We were all new here once

How does stating that a particular brand is made in China ,China bashing ?
I'm not sure what you are referring to. I don't believe anyone in this thread posted anything about knives made in China, or anything about China-bashing. But then I haven't memorized every post in this thread.

Hello to all,
I'm new to Bladesforum and I'm sure this is the place to be for the true knife enthusiast.
I live out in the sticks so I can only contact Bladesforums when I'm in town to get the necessaries for my possibles, so when I get back to town I'll catch up and fill in all the blanks as far as I can.
By the way, I own a Safariland 6 1/2 inch Fighter.

Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum obviously and have been collecting watch and began to also collect knives. My collection is small with a Medford Pretorian and talon, reeve 21, xm-18 3.5, kizer skully, kershaw, benchmade and ZT. I'm have been learning a lot over the past weeks and have been seeing some amazing work and can see that it will be difficult to control myself. Looking forward to being part of the forum.

NO such thing as newbies, noobs etc. . trolls. Anyone can step up and order a tall one, and zero stupid questions. I do suggest using the big " Q " for searching past threads, chances are it's been talked about before. This will save you tons of time. This site is full of wonderful people and tons of knives and gear. EVERYONE should drop a few bucks and at least become a Basic Member. The exchange is a great place to find your Grail, ( most desired knife ) and buying in shows a little respect to the Site owner, Spark, (Kevin) and it puts you in a little better standing in the minds of most Buyers and sellers. You can buy, but not sale without a Basic Paid membership. Best money you will spend. Many members offer GAWs. ( free give aways) and most limit the gifts or contest to paying members. Unlike any site you have ever used before, this site will help protect all members from crooks and shady dealers. The Good Bad and ugly area allows members to air their problems and, wow they get results. Well I just wanted to say hello to you recently joined members and say post away. Ask all you want and good luck buying , after 45 years, knives still make me smile, people whoever make those smile real.

I just registered here and wanted say what's up! I purchased a Kershaw Emerson the other day and wanted to find some info and reviews on it.. I didn't realize the amount of custom knives and the diversity that exists within the blade community. I've spent hours already reding through y'alls posts and the tons on info on this forum. Just want to say thanks for such a cool place. I'm a firefighter in south Florida, grow tons of exotic fruit trees, collect guns and now it seems I'm hooked on these knives. I think I will start saving for my first Chris Reeves Sebenza to kick of this new addiction right! Thanks again for sharing your knowledge!

Hi peeps- I'm Jon Lopez from the less than sunny island of England- Wolverhampton specifically.

Been collecting Spyderco avidly for the last 10-15 years, as finances have allowed, and have been most active on that forum- Even got the pleasure of visiting the Amsterdam Meet for the first time this year, which was an unalloyed joy all round.

I'll post some pictures of my collection in due course ;)

Just wanted to post a quick hello. I actually joined back in 2009 and lurked mostly I think posting once or twice and those I believe have been archived. I got out of knives for a while as funds were directed toward other hobbies. I've recently had a renewed interest and been browsing the forums for the last few weeks. The forum is and endless source of information and a great resource. Look forward to interacting more going forward. Cheers

Hello All,
I have been lurking for a long time and decided it was time to participate. I have some mid and high grade Japanese kitchen knives and recently developed an interest in folders. I went to a local knife store to look and try some folders and bought a bunch of Benchmade. Went back a week later and bought some Zero Tolerance and on my last trip bought a Brad Zinker custom.
I learned how to sharpen freehand with Japanese water stones with my kitchen knives but developed back issues which prevent me from standing at the kitchen sink for extended periods with the waterstones, thus I am a new owner of a KME system with the diamond plates and some Chosera stones.
Anyway, thats my "knife" life story.
Best regards to everyone!

^^^ Welcome, Mitao!

And just for the record, I was never "new" here - I was new somewhere else first, and I was well seasoned when I came "here." But it's all good - live and learn...

Hello forum, my name is Todd, my LTR GF spells it "tODD," and that's pretty apropo. I love K9s, watches, cars, weapons, and debauchery. I have several degrees to include my M.D. I am a man of science - not Scientology - and I will die living life through science. I look forward to meeting some fellow forum members and learning more about knives. I was pleasantly surprised by the thread for watches and I can't get enough of the knife porn out here. I also do a lot of car rallies.

Hey all,
Dan4 here, lurked for a while... this place is the best. You do a Google search about knives and this site shows up first half the time, and 8 times out of ten it's in the top three. I actually just paid for a membership; I've gotten so much out of lurking that I felt bad about posting any questions without contributing anything, and I really need to post some questions! I seem to have had horrible luck so far this year and need some advice. Thanks to everyone who got here before me. Thanks and welcome aboard to everyone who got here after me.

Hello Killgar and thank you for your kind words. I am indeed new to this forum and have only been collecting knives for a couple of years. I have a question regarding knives used and shown in films and television programmes etc. I live in the UK and pretty much all we're allowed to carry is a non-locking blunt toothpick and the whole concept of 'self-defence' is viewed as highly suspicious and does not carry any weight as a valid reason for possessing, let alone carrying such an item.
Subsequently, apart from maintaining and fiddling about with my collection of sub 3 inch slipjoint & friction folders, one of the pleasures I can legitimately indulge in, is looking at knives on-line and identifying them in films,TV, art and photos etc.
...So the question is: Could you point me in the direction of any discussions/photos/screenshots etc of knives being used in this context; either here on this forum somewhere, other forums, websites or indeed anywhere else on the internet. For this I will be truly gratefu.
I wasn't sure where to post this due to being a 'newbie' but your post seemed like a good place to start.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Collie.

Hello Collie, welcome to Bladeforums.

There are many threads containing pics of knives from movies and tv shows (they are frequent topics of discussion here), it's pretty much just a matter of using the search function to find them. But to get you started, here are a few links to threads that contain some movie-knife pics

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/781394-Great-Movie-Knives?highlight=movie+knives

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1270276-Epic-Movie-Knives?highlight=movie+knives

There are a few threads for "The Walking Dead" knives. And I've seen at least one for "NCIS" knives.
