We were all new here once

Greetings everyone. I didn't realize there was a place for introductions here. oh well much more to learn im sure.

Hi

FNG here, I have carried the same Buck for over forty years and a Gerber tool for thirty. As a collector of military fire arms I do have a few bayonets and some odd knifes. I have not looked at the current market until a few weeks ago when I bought a CRKT M16-14SFG Special Forces folder.

The disease has started, just order a Buck quickfire and another CRKT Crimson Trace tool.

Now to learn about these automatic knifes....

Hello,

Stumbled upon this forum as I have been bitten by the sharpening bug. I have been lurking for a few weeks in the maint. Section. What a wealth of knowledge coupled with a real desire to help out newbies, that I've seen in that section. Hello all from Alaska.

Eugene

Hello all, happy to be on board, lots of great info here. Wife said I needed a cheaper hobby than guns. Now I have two expensive hobbies.

great thread ...
Welcome to Bladeforums Lisa White (and everybody else). :)

Just a heads up, and I don't know if it was intentional, but this smiley icon- , is the "rolling eyes" sarcastic smiley. It's like saying "Yeah, right".

Just thought I'd mention that in case it was a mistake. Some people on this site might get their feathers ruffled if you reply to their posts and they think you are being sarcastic when you did not intend sarcasm.

:)

Hey can anyone tell me what the name of this machete is?

That is an Extrema Ratio Kukri.

For future reference, a question regarding the identification of a knife will receive more views, and possibly a faster answer, if it is posted a little lower and directly among the General Discussion threads. The "sticky" threads here at the top are not viewed as frequently as the regular General Discussion threads below.:)

Hi, Ya'll!

Newly registered, but have been lurking for some time. Holy smoley, the amount of knowledge, kindness, and enthusiasm on this forum colours me flabbergasted. Hopefully one day I will be able to contribute something back, but for now I will bath in the ocean of knowledge and drink the insights of wise men (and women).

Good day all.

I am an aspiring knife maker and was wondering what type of steels I could heat treat at home in a fire? Would 12c27 be an option?

Welcome to Bladeforums Willem.

There is a sub-forum here at Bladeforums specifically for knife makers, and you should be able to find answers to any questions you may have about knife making in that sub-forum.

I will explain how to get to the knife makers sub-forum- If you scroll to the top of the screen you will see a white-ish rectangle/button on the left that says "Forum" under the Bladeforums logo. If you click on that button, it will transfer you to the forum directory where you will see all of the various sub-forums. The knife makers forums are in the second box from the top. Click on "General Knife Makers Discussion", post your questions in that forum, and you will find plenty of friendly and knowledgeable people willing to answer your questions.

Good luck with your knife making :).

Hello.

Love knives, been playing around with leather and other materials to make some sheaths. Have a small collection of blades, Victorinox and Colt, mainly. Have heard of this forum, thought about giving it a try...

:)

Greetings!

New member here, long-time visitor of this forum. Finally decided to join!

Big fan of Lionsteel knives. Check for pictures in my other posts.

As if what this forum needed was another new member right? I think Brooks was right: "Get busy livin' or get busy dyin'"

Glad such a vibrant forum exists with what appears to be a plethora of information on blades. Glad to be aboard.

Let the ridiculous initiation rituals begin!

Best regards,
Hunter

Just got back from the blade show, met some awesome vendors, and some even more awesome customers of ours. Thought it'd be good to get on BF and meet more knife junkies like us!
