We were all new here once

Hey everyone! Just getting started on the downhill slide of knife collecting. I look forward to learning more from you all.

Hi everybody! Just getting into serious knife collecting, but I've had a life-long fascination with knives, swords, guns, gadgets, etc.. I've already learned quite a bit from you all. Thanks!

Hello all! It all started with my Manix 2 and now I own 4 folders with one already on the way to SPKETCH for work done!

New to post here, been lurking since 2005. I am Daniel Divine, great grandson of Dwight Divine of Dwight Divine and Sons. My Dad, John H. Divine III ,who was born in 1914 and passed away in 2013 at age 98, grew up with his grandfather Dwight, who was either living nearby or in my grandfathers home in his later years. My grandfather ,whom I never met,was John H. Divine II ,one of the two sons in the company name.Dad was a pallbearer at my great Grandfathers Dwight Divine's funeral at age 15 and my grandfathers at the age of 29. I tried to learn as much as possible about the knife company from my Dad before he passed. I have some things I can shed light on,and have some unusual family and company keepsakes. I'm open to share information. The best way to reach me is at my personal email address, DDivine@cfl.rr.com.All the best

Hello everyone! I've been creepin all over this forum via google search results for a while, and it seems like every time I'm curious about how to do something or what to do it with, I end up here. Naturally, the next logical step was to join. I'm just getting started in knifemaking; haven't really made anything I want to show off just yet, but it's really great that this whole forum seems to be kind of the hub for this community. I'm really glad to be here.

Glad to have a lot of new people signing up! ^^^

Stick around, read a lot and post when you can!

Hello Everyone,

Thought I would say hello. !

I make a few Japanese knives, not a big producer, just my hobby, of great interest.

I was wondering if anyone knew were to get 52100 steel 3/32" thick ?
(Excluding new jersey steel baron )

Hope to have some enjoyable discussions.....!

Welcome to Bladeforums.

As for your question about steel, there is a knife maker's subforum here. If you post your knife making questions in that subforum you are more likely to get answers (there are lots of friendly and helpful people in that subforum who are knowledgeable on the subject of knife making).

To find the Knife Maker's subforum, scroll to the top of the screen and click on the white box that says "Forum" in the upper left hand corner under the Bladeforums logo. That will show you the entire Bladeforums directory. The Knife Maker's subforums are in the second box from the top in the directory.

Howdy I usually lurk the Multitool.org's for sale threads and that's probably what I'll end up doing here too. Just thought I might as well register so I can actually purchase things.

Hello, I've been hanging around for a while. There seems to be a lot of knowledge here and I'm learning already. I will be heading over to the Becker forum where am going to be reading up on how to become a "becker head".

Add one more newb to the forums,I have been lurking for about 6 months but decided to go ahead and register yesterday. Thanks for having me. Now just to start off I have actually been collecting knives for close to 5 or 6 years, and I have amassed probably 100 or more knives since that time ranging from Bucks,Kissing Cranes,Case,CRKT,and many others that don't even have names.

Although I wish I could get 1 maybe 2 Custom knives I really can't see paying over $100 to $300 for those that I have seen in the Sell Forum,so I guess I will have to be satisfied with the mass produced knives. And to be honest I really don't mind that. But anyway this will be my first post but certainly not my last,Thanks all.

wow...this post feels like a warm welcome to me Killgar. Thank you so much. I'm not much aware of the knives. But I'd like to learn more.

You're welcome. And thank you for posting (thanks to everyone else as well). Welcome to the forum. You certainly came to the right place to learn about knives.

Welcome new members! The hours spent surfing these pages are well worth it!

Hi, is there a correct place to show your work in progress knives? I see lot's of posts of finished knives. Currently working on my first knife and would like to make a thread about it. I'm not planning on selling knives, just starting a new hobby.

I don't make the rules around here regarding where topics should be posted, but I would think that it would be alright to post in the General Discussion forum (which is this forum right here). And since General Discussion gets the most traffic a lot more people would see it.

And if that turns out to be the wrong forum, I'm sure a friendly moderator will relocate it.

I have seen several threads of people showing their hande-made knives in General Discussion. Both finished knives and not yet finished knives.

Maybe try custom and handmade knives.
