I don't mean to be preachy, but those of us who have been here awhile know that sometimes newbies don't always receive much in the way of patience and understanding. Sometimes it's easy to jump on those who are new to knives, know less than we do, or simply have different tastes in knives. Sometimes criticism comes a little too easy on internet forums.
Remember that we were all new to knives once, we didn't know anything. And if we were lucky someone with a generous amount of patience and understanding was willing to take the time to teach us, even if it meant pushing their patience and understanding to the limit.
How many of us can say that every knife purchase we made was a smart one. How many of us at some point have bought a knife simply because we thought it was "cool", or "tactical", etc. How many of us have bought knives from questionable companies with silly marketing. I doubt that any here are perfect.
In my humble opinion, this forum should be about more than personal entertainment, it should also be a place to provide guidance to those who are new to this "hobby", even if that means exerting a bit more patience and understanding. After all, how would we want to be treated if we were new here? In the end, we can teach newbies a lot more with patience and understanding than with insults and criticism.
Of course, if you've been here a while then you better have thick skin, because you're fair game.
Just my thoughts.
If you haven't found it already, Spyderco has it's own sub-forum here at Bladeforums. You can find it by scrolling to the top of the screen and clicking on the white box at the upper left hand corner that says "Forum" (under the Bladeforums logo). That will take you to the forum directory. The Spyderco sub-forum can be found in the fourth box down, the one that says "Manufacturers forum".I am new to this forum but am a regular on Instagram as Cardsone1... can anyone point me in the right direction on finding information about original and sprint run spydercos!? I am searcing for a few delica's to add to my collection!
Welcome to Bladeforums.Hi All...newbie here with a pretty specific rational for joining.
My company manufactures very high end, utilitarian outdoor furniture and I want to begin adding some accessories to our range. Most notably, a variety of Chef's Knives, steak knives, cutlery, BBQ tools and knife blocks. Whilst I am familiar with some of the better known brands, I thought this would be an ideal forum to discuss various OEM options for my needs, and realise also that my Chef Knives may indeed be made by a very different outfit to my BBQ tools etc..
Which subforum do you suggest I create a post which would be most relevant and least burdensome for the forum regulars?
Cheers
Welcome to Bladeforums.
There is a subforum specifically dedicated to kitchen cutlery, etc. It can be found in the top box of the forum directory (Knife Specific Discussion). That subforum is entitled "Kitchen Cutlery & Tools".
You can find the forum directory by clicking on the white button that says "Forum" at the top left-hand corner of the screen under the Bladeforums logo.
Kitchen knives are also discussed in the General Discussion forum (where this thread is). More people are likely to see it in General Discussion.
Hello all! Long time lurker finally took the plunge.
