For something really special look for checkered mother of pearl sometime. (Checkering MOP was, and is, very dangerous to the individuals health.)

I have a couple knives with checkered MOP. These are both Bulldog Brand USA knives from 2008 (made by Queen I believe). If checkered finish was an option I'd vote for it, but absent that I'm still going with smooth over sawcut. I also have no doubt this will be a great knife no matter the cover finish.

thanks for posting examples. I gotta say saw cut looks the coolest to me.

os there a place that a guy could learn more about ordering a knife and what to expect? I guess any direction would be cool.

thanks

Ill probably end up voting for saw cut since id like that that no matter what color it ends up. While if its smooth it would need to be white and i cant control that.

Tight one, I voted for sawcut for two reasons. One is I don’t have one and two it looks sweet. That being said I would be pumped for another type of bone as well.

Once all the polls are taken and tallied, there will be a thread started on ordering. Just keep watching the forum for the new thread.... it'll be pretty obvious. There are some guidelines, and some "understood" agreements on the re-selling of the knife, if and when that happens.
This is a forum knife, intended to be for the participants of this forum, and it is done as a "no profit" kind of thing for the benefit of the forum members. So, buying and re-selling for profit is a pretty low-class thing to do, and is frowned on.

Just to clarify, "Smooth, Beveled" handles would be flat on the sides, and squared-off at the butt end...being shaped just like the sawcut covers are, except for no sawcut lines. No curvature, no rounding. Like Mike's 2018 NF Barlow SFO with Elderberry Camel Bone covers. Is this right?

Haven’t voted yet, still on fence. Smooth or sawcut, both are fine with me but smooth only if ivory/natural. Verdigris adds character and it can be kept at bay. If not ivory, then sawcut in red or chestnut. As far as concerns for “pink” depends on how it’s done. These are all 2015 run but the spear point BSK is so much darker red than the Soda Scout. Safe bet would be sawcut in chestnut. F097E6FF-1A34-4CD0-8D08-EA3297494FF8.jpeg

I never said it was easier to carry. But if done as shown below it would be more comfortable in a pocket.

I realize it's not something most people on this forum have experience with, checkering on knives being rare. But I continue to hold out for a forum knife that doesn't trend toward mediocrity. I find it incredibly sad that back when we had runs of 100 knives we could dictate what we wanted and now, when 500 knifes are being touted, we're settling. I'm firm in the belief that going back to 100 knives in a pattern not produced in 50 years would be of more benefit to the hobby than another run of 500 where the only differences from every other production run are so miniscule nobody will ever notice.
