Whacha Been Up To......

Thank you 😊 I appreciate it 😊

I just ordered some new tools and stamps. Nothing like adding new tools to add to stress level lol.

We have a lot of the same stamps. :)
Reminds me that I should do more stamping more often…

Finished off a couple of oak carved holsters. Actually kept one for myself.

Test driving my new holster. Been so hot here lately that we saddle up about 6pm or so:

Nichole keeps kicking out those duffel bags. This time an almost nubuck type leather much lighter in color than her norm:

These two are the gifts for the high bidders at a bull sale. Same outfit we get our bulls from:

Had five different pancake sheaths to oak carve this batch. Most I've ever done at one time:

Made this knife bout a hundred years ago. It was in for a new sheath and Italked the owner into a rebuild on the knife too. Re ground the blade (lots of life and hard use), re etched and re handled:

Just Wow my friend Wow! Bet those new stamps don't cause the same amount of stress as the first time ya sat down at that big Cobra?

Now isn’t that the truth !!!! Lol🤣 I learned fast you don’t fight the cobra, just go with it lol

Thank you for the kind words, Dave. ☺️

For that particular sheath, I went with neatsfoot oil…super lightly. Leaves me with a matte finish and still soft feeling (but firm) leather.

If I want a shiny finish, then I use a flexible acrylic finish (also pretty lightly applied) and then buff the heck out of it. Haha.

Actually, a question for you (or anyone who uses a wax finish), what kind/brand of wax do you prefer? I’d like to try out a wax finish soon.

Edit: Now I’m unsure if that question was for me or John. 😂🤣

Or play a flute and ease it up out of its basket. But ya gotta wear a turban or well a cowboy hat.

Speaking of pics. Its @#$%&%$# frustrating to take pics of chaps when ya don't have the body they are suppose to go on. So ya get flat and unexciting pics like this new pair ready for pick up:

So yeah ho hum. So the guy came to pick em up last night but he didn't get here till after dark so no pics of him having em on. Well thats 3 pairs in my list down, 2 more to go as far as orders. The gal that I made the last pair for hasn't been able to get over and pick em up yet so they were still hanging up in the office:

So Nichole saw these pics of the chaps and said no ya got to do better. They're not something you'd want to use for advertising. So she came up with this idea and took these:

Bam! That works, literally in front of the front doors to the house but it works. So she played with the other pair too:

Yep for you. Good deal. Bout the only thing I use is Bag Kote it has a lot of carnuba wax in it. I'd suggest it over the oil finish you are doing . It will help seal the pores against dirt and dust with out changing your matte finish. One coat is pretty much a satin finish and two coats and you start getting some sheen without being plastic looking.

Nichole’s photos of the chaps look great! I like them a lot. She has some serious talent. Behind every great man, is a greater woman. No doubt about it.

Same for me, not saying I’m great, but my wife is oodles more talented. :)

Please tell your wife that I love her choice of leather for her bags, and that her work is phenomenal. Just like yours.
