Whacha Been Up To......

Thanks guys! You can see why I occasionally get sheaths from other makers...

Just keep making sheaths and you'll get better. It just takes practice. Mine seem to get better with every sheath that I make. Mine do take more time lately since I like to paint them. I've taken more time on my latest sheath because I don't want to ruin it and have to do all the work tooling the leather again. I'm pretty sure that I got my colors figured out though.
20 years ago, it would be no problem at all. But nowadays I hate waking up and asking myself, "Ok. How much pain do I want to endure today?".

Got a Civivi fixed blade Elementum in today and the fellow didn’t have the clip or box for the knife just the sheath so I made a leather swivel adapter so I can carry it. It is a great way to carry a knife as you can swivel it when you go to sit down

Looks great, Gary. I've been thinking about making a sheath similar to like that for my Carothers UF2.

Thanks I’m partial to this style of carry as the usual kydex clips puts the handle up too high. This way you can make it any way you want

This one I donated as a prize to The Skill of The Early Californio Ranchos, a traditional roping event. I donate a knife every year.

Tooling an oak carved belt today and finished off the oak carving on two sets of yokes for leggings yesterday. Whacha doing?

Thats a long one. How many sq ft? You’ll like this stuff!
It’s about 25 sq feet.
And yes this leather is fantastic!! I’ve been cutting little “scraps“ and working with it.
Up to now I’ve been using cheap leather (I don’t even know where I got it) and the final product has been turning out nice. But this W&C is on another level! Buttery smooth to work with and absolutely beautiful! I wasn’t expecting that big a difference!
If there‘s anyone that’s on the fence about spending the money for this leather, let me just say it’s worth it! (And considering how much leather one uses to make a sheath it’s actually very inexpensive)

And sorry for not replying earlier, I lost internet for a couple days because of hurricane Ian.

Mr Horsewright Horsewright Sir, what do you use for a finish on your leather?
I’ve been using lanolin with great results, but it darkens the leather a lot and I’d like to be able to keep that russet color on some things.
