I'm fortunate to live just a couple of hours from them. When I went to pick up my Cobra 4 I had them show me all the doo dads that make up the premium package. After looking over all those items (and it is quite a few), I went with the basic package. I've had my 4 for quite a while now and have never needed any of those doo dads. The basic package has worked very well for me.

will it work? for wallets with 5/6 oz backs/ 4oz interiors that have been skived down as well?

Its really more of a heavy duty machine, probably not so much for wallets. If wallets are a major deal for ya you’d probably be better off with a Cobra 20 or 18. Unfortunately I don’t know of a one size will do all leather sewing machine. We have a 4 and an 18. Quite a few of the wife’s projects she’ll use both. I do too. Currently making a water buffalo overlay pancake sheath. The overlay is 4/5 oz over a 6/7 oz layer. I used the 18 to sew the overlay across the sheath throat. I will use the 4 to construct the sheath. Hope this helps.

It does thank you

Back for some more advice. My stitch lines are nice and straight on the front side that I chisel through. But on the back side my stitching jumps around. I can only imagine I am moving my chisel as I’m striking it? I try to keep the chisel straight up and down but it must be moving. I drive my diamond chisel all the way through on thinner projects like this. The pic below shows the front then the reverse, the reverse looks worse than the photo. Any advice is appreciated. Not holding it straight up and down or the tines are bent would be my guess

There is another thing that can affect the way the stitching looks. Certainly offsets in the chisel angle will show but it can be made worse by using thread that is a bit too big for the holes. It can cause the thread to shift positions because it is being crowded out. It will usually show up more on the backside than the front simply because of the mechanics of the process. Any variation in sequence or positioning of needles can shift the final position of the stitch a lot sometimes.
I can't say that is a factor here but the thread does look larger than what I would use on this type of article. Just an FYI.

I have also seen and own some chisels where the handle and the prongs are not completely parallel. When using the handle to set vertical, the prongs are angled a bit. If you happen to rotate the chisel, it will really aggravate this problem.
