Whacha Been Up To......

After about 10 knife slips for practice, I may attempt a simple sheath next.

Can you please tell us about that knife!!!!!
I certainly will. Thank you for asking.
It is a big rig leaf spring paired with deer antler. the blade is finished up to 2000 grit mirror. the whole build was extremely difficult because after the quench it had a 1/8 warp, which I had to grind out, and the handle, whew, that was a whole different story. but it looked awesome, and the slide in the sheath is firm and feels great, first one I have been able to fully achieve that with. I know it isn't perfect but I feel like I am getting up there.

Its a good looking blade!!! Nice job...

Thanks to many of you I think I have my stitching slanted on front and back, and straight. My friend asked me to make a scabbard for his boning knife. I’ll show some pictures when done. Unless it’s ugly😀

That is outstanding partner! I know how challenging it can be to get the consistency side to side and front to back.
I do have one item for consideration. I have started using a round hole in the corners because it helps me to make the transitions look better. You might give it a try to see if it works for you,

Do you put a round hole square in the corner then even your stitching in between?

That is exactly what I do. I tend to design small items like yours so that a certain stitch spacing will come very close to aligning perfectly. However, some adjustment is almost always necessary. If you do it over a few stitches it will not be at all obvious.
Try it in a test piece to see how it looks. There are ways to make the stitches look basically the same as the others when they enter and exit the hole. Use your same sequencing and technique and odds are it will work.
By the way, your corners do look pretty good already. Much better than I typically got when I did it that way.

I’ll give that a try, appreciate it.
