Whacha Been Up To......

Not sure if anyone has had the same experience but for me learning to make knives was a gradual, and consistent learning process. For leatherwork it was a battle until that A'HAH! moment and then everything starts to improve almost immediately.

On another note I made my first inlay sheath recently, lessons learned and many improvements to be made on the next one but overall pleased with how this one came out.

Very well done !!!!! I really like the colors👍

Some recents finished off this week:

I made another batch of Boot Sheaths. Last week I'd made four, put em on Instagram and sold six so I made seven more:

When ya buy one of my In Stock knives it will come with a sheath. The customer always has the option of buying an additional sheath. This Cowboy Toothpick came with a Slotted sheath. The customer choose to have an additional Horizontal sheath made.

When they choose an additional sheath they get both sheaths sent to them with the knife:

We were out at the ranch last weekend before a big snow storm and she took this pic of her holster. She's worn this water buffalo overlay holster almnost daily for 2.5 years. She's pretty happy with how its aging:

What size punch do you use for the Ulti Clip? Awesome work as usual.

I'm still waiting for an "A'HAH" moment. I've only had "Oh F" moments so far.

Ha, I have a lot of those and a few "Well, throw that in the garbage and start over ya moron!" moments but they're becoming less and less.
That sheath came out great! Very nice indeed. I too really like the subtle contrast of the colors. Very rich.

We use a 1" by Weaver. It makes a much more svelte and clean slot than the Osborne one.

Some old and some new work

Those look incredible.. Braiding like that (or whatever the actual term is) is something I always wanted to pursue but a rabbit hole that I can't dive into right now. My great-grandfather did a lot of it and I always wanted to try it. Any good resources for that? My daughter loves to braid but I fall short of teaching her anything past a 3 strand😞

Know this guy a little, have one of his bosals on the wall:

Having the skiving machine now, a lot more refined and just better. Refined the pattern too:

Thanks Dave, I'm gonna pick that up. Quick question, both links are the same book, was there a different second one?

Yep my oops. I’m om my IPad and I can’t do links on this thing. Look up Bryan Neubert and go to the DVD’s on his website. He ‘s got one on braiding.

Thank You, making whips was hard to learn for me, because you can read something, and try to do that, and that doesnt come up like you wanted to. Small tricks: to cut leather, stretch, bevel or both edges under or diagonal, find the right leather, braiding tight, you always learnn small stuff like that and you can see your progress.
To me book How to make whips by Ron Edwards is worth its weight in gold to me. I also have Davids Morgan book but still didnt red it. For braiding my first book was Bruce Grants Encyclopedia of rawhide braiding and I was very happy when I laid my hands on it.
You can also watch on Youtube, I liked episode with whips in How its made, also good chanell is Cobra Whips, the point is you have to try it because its not like math, its stretchy an you must find what works for you, but its endlesly fun
