Whacha Been Up To......

Hadn't made one of these in couple of three years.

Having the skiving machine now, a lot more refined and just better. Refined the pattern too:

So remember a while back I did a pair of buffalo woolies for a guy:

Then I made him a set of cuffs:

And then a set of saddle bags:

Well did a purse for his wife Anna:

More to come on that later. Speaking of which these guys are shipping out tomorrow:

Extremely heavy duty boarhide chaps. The brown accents on the pockets and the yokes are a lighter boarhide, 4/5 oz. The golden colored boarhide is 7/8 oz. The front string, the belt and the lace down the leg holding them together is 8/9 oz water buffalo.

gonna do a little more on these too later.
Beautiful work, woolies are so nice!

Got 6 sheaths done today. I’m pretty slow so it was an absolute full day.

Got a new stamp from Berry King and it’s been a butt kicker to learn with it being so small. I’m not perfect with it yet but I really like it.

Excellent Todd! How do usually start that lil diamond?

These look great!! I have a project to do a little fixie belt sheath like those. :)

I have that lil diamond stamp and you are absolutely correct, a little bit of a PIA. Haha. You did a great job with it though, IMO. Very nice work.

Thanks fellas. I start it by marking a faint strait line, then it’s front point to back point and just eyeball the distance. It’s just a matter of how dense you want the pattern. Once you have a strait line establishment, try to place the next row staggering. It is a cool stamp.

Just finished up this custom order for my first “punker” cuff.
“Busco” was his best friend who passed recently (dog)
Sorry for the exposure of the photos. First one is the correct color.

Good job! That was some tough stitching!!! Well done.

That was my first thought as well, that has a really nice effect.

Gentlemen…☺️☺️ To hear your kind words just makes me smile so big! I thank you both so much.

It was challenging, with a lot of “thinking and figuring” time. I’m happy with it, but see some things to improve on for next time.

Again, thank you.

Well some of the trials and tribulations of breeding Nichole's good mare Josie have been documented in these pages:

Well after four long years, meet Mitchy The Kid:

Mitchy The Kid (now ya got to go watch City Slickers), is his registered name and Money is his barn name.

"C" Money :D

I kinda see a fishhook or almost our partners brand which is an upside down question mark. Quien Sabe? Anyhoo we were playing around with different names for the foal. Mitchy The Kid if it was a stud colt, as Son of a Mitch was already taken. If it was a filly we were torn between One Tough Mitch or Mitch Better Have My Money.

We're scared of actually sitting down and adding up how many $$$ we got tied up in this colt before he even hit the ground! Really a stupid amount. Anyhoo.

A couple of rifle scabbards shipping out today. These are out of Wickett and Craig chestnut skirting instead of my normal russet. Can't find the russet right now from my normal suppliers. Well I can find it but for like $70 -$100 a side more including shipping so I'm waiting till my normal guys are back in stock. So I thought I'd give the chestnut a try. I really like it.

Always interesting to me that orders from different folks will be so similar.

I've got two sides of this and may need to get more. For some reason we're having a big run on rifle scabbards right now. I think I have six more to do!

I really like your scabbards. They have a simple but elegant style i find very appealing. I have used chestnut a lot and always keep some around. A number of my customers from up north seem to prefer it over russet.
Can you tell me how you dye the brand black on the roughout scabbard without it bleeding?
Randy

Thank you Randy. We're really liking this chestnut too. Saw my russet is back in stock so ordered two sides last night and two sides of the chap style water buffalo. Hadn't been able to get that for months.

If its a particularly fuzzy piece I'll go around the bevelled edge with my pokey tool making sure none of the fuzzies are hanging down into the bevel. Then I use a pretty small brush and keep it moving. I don't allow the dye to seep off of the brush. I paint it on where I want it. I think that moving is paramount. I don't see seepage happening when I'm doing that. Ya let it sit and thats when those oops happen. There's several videos on YouTube about how they just let the dyed bleed off the brush. some of the videos from guys I really respect. But doesn't seem to work too well with roughout.
