What’s Your Favorite LARGE EDC Folder? Need Suggestions for 4” Blades….

Just under 4", but the Vero Synapse XL is a sweet knife. Pricey and a bit hard to come by, tho.

Have always liked the Sp. Military. Also the Manix 2 xl is a well made sturdy knife. But the most knife for the money is the Recon 1 by Cold Steel. Durable and great ergonomics. The 4 inch Voyager is a good knife for a lower budget. Speaking of good budget 4 inch knives, look at the Civivi Vexer. It has a very good flipper and is very slicey. Well made.

As others have said the millie is great. My military is loved by my wife who has no passion for knives but she seems to gravitate to it because of its functionality. It just works so well, long blade, light for it size and you don't even notice it in the pocket.

My new DLT exclusive CS 4 Max Scout came yesterday and I am loving it very much. The DLC is a real fingerprint magnet.

It's the maximum folder you can get in a 4 inch size, it says so right in the name.

You will notice you are carrying it. You will not worry about breaking the tip.

A few off the top of my head:

Grayman Satu (if you can find one)
Three Sister’s Forge Gorgon
Spyderco Military

+1 on the XM-24 for a 4 inch blade. The biggest I have is the XM-18 because of blade restrictions. Also in between the to XMs is the CRK Umnumzaan which is an absolutely fantastic knife.

I'm surprised you didn't see the thread in the CS sub! Be sure to check it out, lots of sweet pics and enabling.

Maybe you have some points to spend at DLT? :)

Another vote the Cold Steel Recon 1. It is usually my first recommendation if someone asks for a 4" blade. I've held the 4 Max, very nice knife, but a little wider than I like when closed. Although I usually don't count ounces in a knife, it does weigh 10.2 oz. The Recon is 5.2 oz.

I'm not a flipper kind of person so I'll go with the backlock 4V Native Chief or the K390 Police. The K390 is amazing in my Enduras and Police and seems to slice forever. It eats through skin almost too easily and it pays to be careful when cleaning and sharpening. It does rust if not well cared for so I spend a little more time on it than most other steels. It makes up for it by needing less sharpening the way I'm using it.

4V is almost like CPM Cruwear in being very well balanced and though not quite as wear resistant as K390 it has better toughness and corrosion resistance. If I needed super thin and sharp edges I'd take it over K390. It's no slouch in the wear resistance department despite having less vanadium. Like Cruwear it's an all around-er.

Next up would be one of the several CPM M4 or Rex 45 lockbacks because I like lockbacks for EDC.

Spyderco native chief, police 4.

Cold Steel 4 max scout.

Benchmade Contego or Crooked River.

Hinderer xm24.
