What’s Your Favorite LARGE EDC Folder? Need Suggestions for 4” Blades….

This is almost a tough question. I love both my ZT 0300BW in S30v and it's a great carrying beast-when I carry it. Sorry pocket clip aside of course.

However, my Emerson SuperCommander although it's well loved, it's still maintains an edge and is my favorite blade to carry

One of my faves, Opinel N°10
The Opinel no. 13 (and the Svord Peasant XL) both beat the Espada XL by half an inch, haha. Who's the biggest, baddest folder around? Cold Steel, ZT? Nah, Opinel High Speed Weapons Systems has them beat! 😁

I love large carry (for me, large starts at about 4" to 10" for a knife that I'll carry, though since I cannot carry a fixed blade in my locale, things like Espada XL, Matriarch 2 + Voyager XL tanto, Yojumbo, I've got a stiletto with a 6" blade that can wave, that I don't carry much but love for the novelty. Have a 5.7" clasp knife that is essentially a folding bowie on a slipjoint action, but the clasp folds up to act as a lock. It feels like a very secure system and is called a "Verlangerungsmesser", a German style where the blade is larger than the handle, traditionally used in a sheath. I would like to learn more of the veracity of that style, as it was my first large carry knife.
Other "large carries" I have include the Cold Steel Kudu at 4.25", Boker XXL Kalashnikov Bowie at 4.75" and hopefully more to come!

Will post pics soon. Also, any recs for best strong-tipped big folders from anyone? Seems CS Recon is a good contender for that, but, any others?

Four inch blade makes me think of a Buck 110.

For EDC usage: my Hinderer XM-18 3.5 is about as large as I like to go...
But large folders DO take up a lot of pocket space.
I prefer my EDC knives to be down in the 3" (or less) range.

From top to bottom and also smallest to largest, here is the Sencut Snap, Harnds Talisman, and Civivi Naja. These are all budget knives and excellent values for what they are. The Snap and Talisman both have 3.5" blades and are what I'd consider "full-sized" for EDC. The Naja has a 3.75" blade with plenty of belly. It is the largest folder that I find comfortable for EDC and it tops out in some situations. (The Naja is discontinued but can still be found if you look. It is definitely worth grabbing one while you can.)

Thank you all for the voluminous information! Boy, I’ve got a LOT to look thru now!!

I have really enjoyed my Spyderco Endura 4, I think. I’ve carried it for near 20 years! Spyderco is also a fantastic company if you run into any kind of issue with your knife. They’ll make it RIGHT! No question!

I have had a favorite that I’ve wanted for a LONG TIME, the Spyderco Police 1 in Stainless handle with the Spydie edge. Every time I see that knife I lust after it. I know, I know, I should just SHUT UP AND BUY IT ALREADY!

Oh well…one of these days soon. I’ve got a birthday coming up!
I love spyderco but their warranty isnt that great.

But how often have you had to put a warranty to use?
I broke the tip off a PM2 cutting a large ziptie. I emailed spyderco CS and they said no blade replacemnt at any price. No warranty. Similar story with a Tenacious.

I still love Spyderco but their warranty is borderline nonexistant.

It's not a well known brand or model, but the Warspear WP505 is a surprisingly good knife. It has a 4.2 inch 14C28N blade and is very slicey. The action on it is the smoothest of any knife I've ever handled, but that's a sample of one. For people who care about "drop shut," (I don't), it will guillotine your fingers if you have them in the way when you release the lock.

Edit to add: Oops! Looks like I mentioned this in my original list. Apologies!

Use the belly of the blade: not the tip...
You'll have better leverage and control over what is happening.

Like a larger folder myself with spring assist. Settled on the Sog Trident AT. Next might be a Hogue flipper with 4 inches of blade. Like the ones posted on the thread by the way. That Cold Steel Recon looks like a great choice.

Mine are Benchmade 710, Cold Steel Voyager, Both the x large and the xx large. (the xx large is huge, has a 6" blade. And a Cold Steel Recon 1,

The Spyderco Military is a GREAT knife...

That has no optional carrying positions for us Southpaws...

CH Emperor. 3.75” bead blasted S35VN blade, bead blasted Ti framelock with Timascus pivot collars. You can probably find one for $170 if you search.

Real Steel Megalodon Indiana Knives exclusive. 3.93” M390, micarta and Ti framelock. $150

Sorry, the Emperor is sandblasted not beadblasted.

You have to jam the tip in and use a bit of leverage to cut a big zip tie. The PM2 and many other spydies have weak tips.
