What’s Your Favorite LARGE EDC Folder? Need Suggestions for 4” Blades….

I lean towards the big folders myself. The 4"+ blades I would recommend are the Spyderco Police 4, Benchmade Crooked River, Cold Steel Recon 1, and the Kizer Sheepdog XL. Of those the one I use the most is the Police 4 (partly because the Recon 1 is still somewhere out there in the mail on it's way here).

My next purchase will probably be a Zero Tolerance and most likely a ZT Emerson, but for 4" blades the Sinkevich (0450 or 0470) comes to mind.

I just got into flippers not too long ago and really like them. My brother gave me the small copper Kershaw and my first flipper, a KaBar Mark 98, which I have been carrying and practicing with. When I saw the Kershaw copper Natrix XL in 3.75 inch D2 I wanted it because I like copper and wanted a better knife steel. I just bought the Natrix a couple weeks ago and love it. Very sharp out of the box. Definitely got some heft to it but I don't mind and I am curious to see how the copper ages over time. I've been carrying that little Kershaw for over a year and like how it aged. They are all made in China so there is that but it works for me. Like anything else I get into I will probably upgrade down the road so it is good to see everyone's suggestions.

ZT 0308 is a good beastly Frame lock. Budget options, go for a Cold Steel Voyager or Recon 1.

Hey all.

I enjoy carrying larger folders. I have carried a Spyderco Endura for many, many years. I just got a new knife from MIGURON that’s close to 4 inches.

I’d like to pick up other EDC folders with large blades in the range of 3.75” to 4.25”. I wouldn’t want to go bigger than that, I don’t think.

So, if you don’t mind, please suggest other large blade folders. Right now I like flippers, but thumb studs are ok too. Also, I’m talking production knives as custom stuff, while gorgeous, is just too much money for me right now.

Post pics of your large blade carry knives if you don’t care. I love seeing Knife pics!

Have a good weekend all!

Do you have a cold steel recon 1? Most durable blade I know of. Backlock.

Also is the Kansept Hellx. It comes in TI version as well.

First thing that came to mind was the ZT 0452 if you want a pocket lightsaber. Elegant.

On a budget, a Cold Steel Voyager.

I just picked us a Benchmade Adamas. Slightly shorter in blade at about 3.9, but a real workhorse if you are a fan of the axis lock.

Thank you all for the voluminous information! Boy, I’ve got a LOT to look thru now!!

I have really enjoyed my Spyderco Endura 4, I think. I’ve carried it for near 20 years! Spyderco is also a fantastic company if you run into any kind of issue with your knife. They’ll make it RIGHT! No question!

I have had a favorite that I’ve wanted for a LONG TIME, the Spyderco Police 1 in Stainless handle with the Spydie edge. Every time I see that knife I lust after it. I know, I know, I should just SHUT UP AND BUY IT ALREADY!

Oh well…one of these days soon. I’ve got a birthday coming up!

Don’t know what budget your on but if you looking for something inexpensive then the Civivi Praxis is a super nice liner lock you can get for $42 and comes in just under 4” blade length

I'd really, really like to recommend the Benchmade 391 SOCP. It carries like a 3.5", despite it being 4.5".

However I can't. The blade geometry and material means it sucks at cutting...
