What are you watching & why? (splain)

I watched Blade on dvd the night before last. Man, I don't know if it's a good movie but I sure do like it. Especially all the subtext- watched Black Klansman a couple nights before- and started picking up all sorts of little nuances. I like stuff that is unsubtle, but nuanced. Like any CPK knife, really.

Started watching Gen V , it's a new series related to the boys
Watched the first 3 episodes and I'm enjoying it.

Also watching the Original Star Wars movies on a rainy day. By original, I mean D+77, D+80 and OTD83. They're slightly better picture quality than the 4K77 and 4K83 releases, but not a perfect theatrical release like the latter.

While waiting for a few shows to come back, decided to give Moving a try on Hulu. Interesting Korean take on super heroes with the story following multi-generations of families. Enjoying it so far.

I've recently gotten mildly hooked on a YouTube channel showcasing the skills of an art restoration expert.
I have dabbled in knife restoration and I understand a bit about the challenges and joys of returning something to a state as close to the original as possible, but this guy is beyond next level good, and I am learning some principles and skills that I can adapt.

Watched "The Creator" at my local AMC the other night.

The plot is pretty simple but watching the film is a shock to the system which is bombarded with lots of very loud sound effects, violent action scenes and pretty amazing CGI.

I thought the film stole bits from various other movies, including (but not limited to):

Apocalypse Now (1979)
Blade Runner (1982)
A.I: Artificial Intelligence (2001)
The Last Airbender (2010)
Oblivion (2013)
Elysium (2013)
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)

Hard to imagine such a hodge podge on the screen but The Creator manages to do it, which makes it a mess to watch if you try to make sense of it all but, if you dispell logic, you can just enjoy the ride as I did. ;)

With the start of the new Fall Season, these are the TV shows that I'm watching again:

1) Dancing with the Stars - which returns to ABC after a failed season streaming only on Disney+.

2) Quantum Leap -- the 2nd season of the remake with the Raymond Lee (who had a minor role in Top Gun: Maverick).

3) The Golden Bachelor -- I gave up watching The Bachelor years ago but am watching this one because it's for "seniors" like me. LOL! ;)

4) The Amazing Race --It's like traveling w/o all the hassle & it can be entertaining watching the bickering between team members.

5) Forged in Fire -- I've always enjoyed watching this show and was glad to see it return for its 10th "On the Road" season.

6) Correction . . . as for streaming, I am also watching Season 2 of "Circle of Time" and recently also watched "The Flowers of Alice Hart" on Prime.

7) I've also been watching "Botched" -- a show about 2 Beverly Hills plastic surgeons who specialize in "fixing" previous botched plastic surgeries -- and Bobby Flay's new food show called "Triple Threat" which pits a single chef against Flay's team of 3 chefs for a cash prize of $25k.

So, if it's not already obvious, I watch A LOT of television. 🤷‍♂️

Anyone dig Kiefers new show “Rabbit Hole?”
Watched the first episode for free a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Now that season one is wrapped up Ive been considering purchasing the entire season. Huge 24 fan. The show that got me into binge watching.

Watched the new Equalizer 3 with Denzel. Loved the first 2. Always enjoy seeing some a hole who is picking on someone get theirs. The 3rd installment was set in Italy (beautiful scenery) and the Italian spoken in the movie (and there was a lot) was subtitled. I found that I concentrated on reading what they were saying and missed a lot of the subtleties of the movie. Distracting I would say and it detracts from the overall experience of watching a movie. It did not detract from the punishment dealt out.

Catching up on my Plex backlog. I keep buying 4K movies for my NAS and then I never get around to watching them...

Black Adam - Better than I thought it would be based on some reviews. Fun movie, but nothing particularly memorable or that I would watch again.

The Flash - I really liked it and thought it was of the better DC movies. The humor in it was great and loved the multi-verse cameos. My only gripe was that the CG was bad. It may be the worst I've seen in any recent major Hollywood movie.
