What are you watching & why? (splain)

I'm currently watching Overlord (2018). It's WW2 thriller. I'm only 15min in & it's pretty intense.

ETA: I should probably change the genre from thriller to horror. I'm loving this!

Someone mentioned Jason Statham a few pages back.

Never even heard of this movie, but it was directed by Guy Ritchie, starring Jason Statham, Josh Hartnett, Hugh Grant, Cary Elwes, Aubrey Plaza

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre

On Amazon Prime. Worth a watch for Jason Statham action movie fans.

Rewatched The 13th Warrior last night (on Amazon Prime).

Still annoyed that they never released the BluRay here. Only way to get an HD physical copy is to look for the out of print German BluRay (Der 13te Krieger).

Another unique film Kinda, sorta like this, at !easy in period piece is "Brotherhood of the Wolf"
It's pretty good

Watching Unhinged 2020 for the third time. Russel Crowe plays a villain/psychopath so well! I just bought it for $5. it will go well with Falling Down I bought previously.

That was me & thanks for the rec. I'll check it out.

I'm watching Isolation (2015) It's got under 5 on IMDB but I've learned to take their scores with a grain of salt. Seems like everyone on there is a super skeptical armchair critic. Stephen Lang is mostly the reason I'm watching it. He always plays a good psychopath lol. It looks like a good thriller.

Okay, in hindsight I can see why it didn't get many good reviews. There just wasn't much depth to it. It wasn't a bad little flick though, overall.

Lately, I've been listening to a bunch of Shawn Ryan interviews with MACV-SOG veterans and am stupified by their experiences. It got me into the mood for some Vietnam movies and stumbled into Rescue Dawn by Werner Herzog. Not your typical war movie, but very good.

If you enjoy reading, and are interested in the Vietnam era, may I suggest a novel called "Matterhorn" by Karl Marlantes? Marlantes is a decorated Marine veteran, and the book is really superb. One of the best books I've read in the last decade or more. Its that good.

Thank you for the recommendation! I will add it to my list of things to read once I find a bit more time (ie, once the kids are out of diapers). This ine might jump to the top of the list.
