What are you watching & why? (splain)

Just watched "65" (2023). I think it's very underrated movie. It was a really good sci-fi thriller.

After a catastrophic crash, pilot Mills quickly discovers he's actually stranded on an unknown planet. Now, with only one chance at rescue, Mills must make his way across an unknown terrain riddled with dangerous prehistoric creatures in an epic fight to survive. From the writers of A Quiet Place comes 65, a sci-fi thriller produced by Sam Raimi, Deborah Liebling, Zainab Azizi, Scott Beck and Bryan Woods.

As a rule, anything that Sam Raimi is involved in, I'm going to like it.

I get that. Especially when its dogs, I have a hard time with that. But it does happen off-camera, and is the basis for everything that comes after.
When I was watching Homefront yesterday, there was a point where the bad guy snatched the little girl's cat & I was expecting the worst, but thankfully the cat survived. I love all animals, but especially dogs & cats. I won't watch anything where they use their deaths as a part of the plot. I would rather see a thousand people die on film than one innocent pet.

No wonder you got Smoky's knife. Couldn't have gone to a better home.

I’m a big BritBox fan, and could recommend a lot of things from that channel on Amazon Prime. Ive found British detective shows a great genre to dive into.

Just finished the series Cracker with Robbie Coltrane, really noir flawed detective stuff. Another in that category I’d recommend is Luther. Again… kind of tormented soul who you find yourself cheering for.

If you haven’t seen Pulp Fiction, I’d avoid that one. A pet gets hurt in it

😜

I enjoy some of the Brit detecive/etc shows. "Dept. Q" was pretty fun. And of course, "Slow Horses" was good, at least the first few seasons. But man, as a rule rather than the exception, the gun handling is really, really painful to watch. So bad I find it distracting. And a lot of the more recent ones really beat the viewer over the head with PC stuff.
