What are you watching & why? (splain)

Watching A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Really enjoying it as a light hearted look at Westeros (Game of Thrones). It's really close to the books (short stories) and the dialogue is taken almost directly.

Some pooping, male nudity, etc. Some really funny lines and situations. If you don't know anything about it and like GoT, go in blind.

Watching M3GAN 2.0. It's pretty funny. I'm a big sci-fi fan & if it's got action & some humor to it, it's for me.
I watched The Tank earlier & it was pretty good. It had an unexpected ending. I really didn't think they would steer it that way.

The last gem of the day is "Before the Devil Knows You're Dead (2007)". This is such an intense psychological thriller! You know the type of movie where everything keeps getting worse & worse for the characters? This is that.

I try to avoid movies like that these days... I ask myself the question "am I enjoying this?". It was a good well done movie, and a miserable watch lol.

In the same way Requiem for a Dream was amazing in it's execution, super un-fun and depressing as hell.

I happen to enjoy horror & suspense. To each their own, as they say.

Requiem for a Dream was a great movie

If I may, delve further into my explanation. I really enjoy the feeling of dread that comes with a good horror film & I enjoy the nail-biting suspense that comes with a good thriller. It's an adrenaline thing, I guess. They don't get me "depressed".

I get most of my recommendations through a movie subreddit, then I research them on IMDB & if they're over a 5/10 I'll check them out. Those past three movies I listed were in a thread titled "movie gems" & they sure were.

If you are a big fan of watching really well made foreign language productions, there is a real gem currently on Netflix: The Leopard (il gattopardo) which is based on an iconic Italian novel, not to be mistaken with the older 60's movie of the same story. This 6 part limited series is about an aristocratic family in Sicily when the island is going through unification conflicts in 1860 with the mainland Italy. I find it to be a masterfully acted and executed, beautifully shot period drama.

I watch foreign language movies/series in its native language with subtitles which may not be for everyone as I think that watching a dubbed version takes away many ingredients from the original, but then again it is not for everyone. I very highly recommend The Leopard to the like minded fans 😊

My brain read this as Leonard "part six"
First (I knew you couldn't have wanted That) haha

Bugonia - fantastic intense acting with current topics - corporate greed, conspiracy theories and UFOs.

I don't get to watch as many movies as I would like.
Everyone here has been talking about this movie....even my morning radio DJ's.
Saying how intense it is.

It's ok.
I grew up watching messed up shit in the 70's & 80's.....so it wasn't too bad.

I believe the one actor is actually special needs.....not acting, so much.

An acquaintance was on Springer. He was briefly detained at the airport while traveling to the filming, for matching the sketch of what turned out to be Timothy McVeigh.
We were at Davis-Monthan AFB for some training when the Oklahoma City bombing took place. I thought they were going to have us drive over to provide assistance in the wake of the bombing but it didn't come to that.
