What are your dirty little knife secrets

I own three Cold Steel blades and I love them all....

I own thousands of dollars worth of knives and my heavily used kitchen knife is a Spyderco that cost me around $20. The rubber is now so sticky it gloms to my hand every time I use it.

I take kind of a sick pride in all of the accidentally self-inflicted knife scars on my hands.

Hey ! Me too !

I also don't really trust axis lock. The lock failed me once, and I'm "a little" paranoid on breaking the omega springs.

the ole lady cant tell when one knife gets sold and 10 more get bought....
my fav EDC is a buck... The Strider and DeVilliers never gets any pocket time...
i leave my shirt untucked most of the time at work just so i can axcess my neck knife.

ugh.. im goin to hell arent I ?!?!?

I'm "a little" paranoid on breaking the omega springs.

+1 on that.

I'll also add:
-I never met a Spyderco I like
-I also wear the scars from cutting myself with pride
-My forearms are mostly devoid of hair from testing edges
-I have EDCed the same knife for a year and a half (Kershaw Random Leek)
-I don't like patina on a carbon blade
-And the standard....my wife doesn't really know that my knife collection is probably worth more than the retail book value of my 2 year old truck ;):D:cool:

I hit the mailbox before the wife, so she does not know I purchased another knife. Because all are traditional slippies, she really cannot discern if I have a new one or not. Then, once she discloses that she spent too much money on the kids, or possibly a new Coach purse, I disclose my knife purchase then and come clean. Funny thing is, she does not really care that I buy the knives, she supports it.

i honestly cant tell where the scars and the skin end and begin.
the majority of my knives came from the neihborhood dollar shop.
ive broken more knives than i currently own (30 something).
i treat my fixed blades like death row inmates.
i cant throw a knife worth a dog-fart.
i regularly cut through tin cans for the fun of it.
ive probably lost more knives than ive broken.

p.s. i like budk.com and i dont care what anyone thinks about it.
also i LOVE WSKs

- I thought all Spydercos were junk. I remember their pinned together knives with plastic handles in the 80s with their weird blade shapes and their monster serrations and I thought they were atrocious. I now have a Tenacious, and I was literally bowled over. For 25 years I laughed at people that carried Spyderco - no more

-Same thing about spyderco, got one in trade here it is fully serrated and has that ricdicules hole but it is in my pocket right now, and even worse I like it.

My next secret and this one is a doozie and very hard to admit, my kitchen cutlery is a CUTCO block set, use them every day and they function well and ever worse I like them too. Was planning on getting some real good stuff for the kitchen adn while at the deer camp this past December my wife bought some from a friends kid who was selling them. Was mad for about a week and then used them for a while and was really impressed. I know I could have gotten better for less, but they have really suprsied me. Maybe its just that my expectations of them was so low that any type of performance was better than would I expected. That said they are some of the best knvies I've used in the kitchen. I hate to admit that, I really do.

My favorite EDC is a S&W Extreme Opps. It is one of the cheapest and best folders that I own.

Life would still be sweet however, even if I only had the CS SRK and the Spyderco Endura. OH and the Buck 110.:D

My knife buying frequency is directly proportional to my time spent on BF.com, so I try and stay off here as much as I can ..... but I just can't.

My wife knows a fraction of the knives I have and if she knew the real value of my collection .... well, I'd probably be buying a lot more shoes and jewelery for her.

I'm almost embarrassed when someone sees my entire collection. I'm afraid they're going to think I'm weird and that I'm on the verge of going all slasher on them.

Before I started buying (or even knowning about) nicer knives I bought a S&W SWAT. I eventually had four of them, one Tanto, one small regular, one larger one, and I even found a auto version (that doesn't work worth a damn). I took those things to multiple deployments including Afghanistan and Iraq.
I now own and EDC a Sebbie, XM-18, and various other nice folders, but refuse to sell my S&W's and they are still the most comfortable knifes I've ever held. They're falling apart (thumb studs missing, grips ripped, etc) and I never carry them, but they're still to comfortable to sell. :)

And while I have an old Spiderco I used to carry, no matter how nice the new ones are, they just don't feel right in my hand.

I actually ordered and enjoyed solid proof.

A little comfort can be found in the fact that that was before I found BF and I have not bought another CS product since then.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you, except my collection is a bunch of cheaper stuff that adds up to a good amount. Also, replace wife with girlfriend and it's pretty much the same. The only thing that can even remotely compete with my knife addiction is my love of beer. Mmm...

Here is my confession:

1.) I once used a Busse SHBA as a machete at work.

2.) Other than that, butchering a deer or two was all I ever used it for. Pocket knives are so much handier.

3.) I could have an internet porn addiction and spend less time on this computer than I do reading about knives.

4.) I went for years buying a new spyderco everytime mine got dull because the more money I spent and the harder I tried to sharpen them, I only seemed to make them worse. ( I am improving though, I now seem to be able to maintain a sharp edge, just not produce one.)

... alcohol and knives together rarely ends well.....:D
but I hear you about the beer.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention. I've convinced my wife that almost all my fixed blade knives are one and the same. when it comes to attention to detail, as soon as I pull out any knife she rolls her eyes and finds something else to do, so it's really not that hard. But I do feel guilty fibbing to her - although I'm sure she doesn't only have one pair of black shoes?????

I badmouthed Spyderco for the longest time, calling them ugly and elitist. Until I bought a ZDP-189 Endura. For $60. It's my most carried knife of this year.

I secretly sometimes want to carry my CRKT M60, in its duck-taped sheath, around with me.

And sometimes, just sometimes, I still carry my Gerber Ripstop.
