Today Im carrying my first Custom shop Buck that I got recently! Loving it!

Today I've been carrying this Buck 389 canoe. Yes, it is a China-Buck, but no, it is not 420J2, it is 420HC! Very early in Buck's outsourcing, the China Bucks were assembled with Buck supplied 420HC. One year after this knife was made, Buck switched to Chinese supplied, 420J2 steel. Easy way to tell: If your China Buck slip-joint has the, "Buck Hammer and Bolt" logo, it has 420HC. If it has the "Buck Oval", it's 420J2.

I like it. Everything works just as it should in my opinion. It’s not as free moving as say the Bugout when you hold the crossbar back, but it’s very nice.
