What Buck Do You Have on Order? Or in the Mail?

212

I don't know if I mentioned it but I have a Custom Shop 112 ordered to match, nearly, my Buck 110 in burnished brass bolsters and canvas micarta. It has pretty much become my favorite 110. The 110 was from the "Danny's Collection" of Buck Knives.
Would someone tell me if that "Collection" contained more than one knife or was the "Collection" idea that short lived?

I just did a quick search and it looks like there were 3 releases.

Thanks, Pat! The only knife in the collection that I consider affordable is my 110. I would love to have had just about any of the others but I can't wrap my head around those prices.
Anyway the Danny's Collection Buck 110 has a 5160 steel drop point blade. The 112 will have a clip point Magnacut blade.

No problem! I wish I would have grabbed one of those 110s.

Found a decent price on a 791 pro.
I opted for the green as the black was sold out.

I didn't really plan on grabbing one as I've taken a preference for more traditional folders and small fixed blades lately. But I've never had one of these cross lock knives, I figured I'd see what all the hype is about.

Got one of these on the way, 744 Sovereign to hold me over until I scrape up the funds for a Range Elite. And I need to stock up my cheapie bin to offset it to maintain my cheapskate status. But really I just can’t help myself when I see anything with this blade shape and size. Must have gotten the last one at KC, cos it’s now showing as out of stock, so clearly it was meant to be.

Arrived. I’m impressed. For a cheapie this thing is solid and tight. Action is super smooth - almost feels like it’s on bearings, but I don’t see any reference to that anywhere. Stainless handle has a unique feel to it, but very comfortable. Locks up tight, and that button lock is as good as the Pro-techs I have that cost a whole lot more. It’s really a damn nice budget knife.

I scored one of the limited run Spitfires from a certain shop up in the Scarlet Hills from their Blades & Bourbon event, which caught my eye because it's a Spitfire with a nail-nick instead of the Spydiehole-like opener, which I've not seen before.

Someone at Buck must be pushing that variant of the Spitfire for vendor specific runs. Palmetto State Armory has an almost identical item for sale, Red Spitfire with Nail Nick, though it is not "1 of 100"

The one I have coming is a serialized version that was signed by Chuck Buck.

But that said, it's cool that PSA has one on offer as well!

I rarely buy China made Buck knives but I couldn’t pass this up for $29. I owned a wood grain 389 many years ago and I remember it being a pretty decent knife.

I also love bourbon and blades so it will fit right in.

My wife and I did our own little Bourbon Trail thing in 2023 and at that time, I had no idea that we were only 32 miles from Red Hill Cutlery. We definitely would have made the trip if I had known.
