What Buck Do You Have on Order? Or in the Mail?

Yeah. Soooo, my conscience feels like I need to make a confession to you all - strangers I have met on the internet, and am not beholden to in any way. Some of you may have cured your insomnia by reading my past ramblings about being a Luddite, not liking new-fangled powder metallurgy steels, and not liking vanadium carbide steels that are chippy and require diamonds to sharpen.

You may have even read that I don’t like aluminum knives because every one I have tried was too slippery in my hands.

Well, you see, what happened was, some other stranger on the internet bought one of those aluminum knives with a Magnacut blade, tried it for a week or two, wisely decided he didn’t like it, and decided to recoup some of his money by putting it up for sale here on the exchange.

That’s where my confession comes in. I bit. I electronically sent money to a stranger on the internet to buy something he is selling because he doesn’t like it, and that I have reason to believe I won’t like either, and will likely end up selling so that I can put the money into a 112 in 5160 with oak handles that I will keep forever and carry/use occasionally because I already have more than enough fantastic Buck knives. :)

Bottom line, some dude, somewhere in this great land of ours, is boxing up a basically new gray Range Elite today, and paying the government money to bring it to me. All for $40 less than I could buy it new elsewhere - just so he can likely go buy another knife to sit on his dresser next to a passel of others he already owns. Much the same as most of us.

I love this country and this hobby. LOL!

PS: At least it’s anodized, and not Cerakoted. I’d never live that down. :)

Culprit99 Culprit99 and round and round it goes. I hope you enjoy that new Buck and it finds its way quickly to you but I’d like to hear more on that 5160 with oak!
Thank you!

It was a Copper and Clad exclusive about 8 years ago, I think. I’ve halfheartedly started watching eBay, but if I ever get serious about looking for one, I’ll probably have to start posting wanted ads on the Exchange, and in some of the Facebook groups, on the BCCI board, and watching Larry’s consignment emails.

I did email Copper and Clad this morning asking if maybe they have one that fell behind the shelves in the warehouse, or something. We’ll see what they say.

I'll be very interested in your opinion. I keep going back and forth about buying one. I have and like the BM Griptilian, haven't carried one in years because of the Slim Pro.
It carries much better...

I saw that exact listing and immediately lamented the fact that I had just ordered one from Buck two days earlier. If I had waited two days, you’d still be left wondering if you will like aluminiminum handles and the best knife steel on the planet. I was actually considering the gray handle too, but it was preorder only at KC and I was concerned that it might be back-ordered at Buck as well, so I went with black.

I haven’t seen any complaints about these handles being too slippery, so I’m gonna go out on a limb and say it’s 50/50 you’ll end up keeping it. Mine is in FedEx’s incapable hands right now, so you might even find out before I do.
