What did you rehang today?

that fulton is sweet. I think i have one just like it. I like the grind they put on it.

It is pushed away yes, buy something that is taking its place. It is not an empty space where there is no pressure. I think. Idk, I hang axes this way, works, I am not changing anytime soon.

That is a fulton Michigan on a 36
A craftsman boys on a 28
And a Collins dayton on a 32

A 4lb Plumb on a hardware store handle I stripped and reshaped with a rasp. A splitting working axe. You can see a gap in one of the recesses I made between the wood and the ear. I also ended up hanging it flush instead of proud. It came out ok.

I re-hanged the hatchet. I found its original handle when I was not expecting ...

Today it is a Walters on a 32" hickory handle - 1st round of BLO applied. Sharpening will be one of these days.
Even the cat was interested in handle's grain.

Thanks Square_peg. It is a home hardware handle - a VB Swinger. I got lucky I think.

I just picked up the same handle the other day for a TT. Home Hardware seems to have a good selection of decent quality axe handles and it's rapidly becoming my first place to go look.

True :) I buy when I see something good, not necessary when I need it since there are not too many per size anyway and good ones go fast.

Home Hardware has 'pulled up it's socks' over the past 3-4 years in trying harder to cater to folks that aren't interested in Home Depot and Rona junk. Discontinuing the flat slab handles and re-stocking with Vaughn-Bushnells along with unmarked, unvarnished hafts (Canadian-made?) has been a blessing. Make sure to compliment the owner or manager when you see improvements such as this. HHs tend to be located in smaller centers and in towns and are largely mom and pop operations flying under the St Jacobs Ontario hardware buyer's co-operative banner.
My local store in Manotick has provided exemplary service ever since it opened 30 years ago. Owner Mike Mirsky was the son of the real estate tycoon that developed, built (and owns) the entire mall (and others) but cheerful Mike's first love was hardware and he was in his store every day 6-7 days a week and always out on the floor with the employees. Staff turnover has been negligible in all these years despite the low wages typical to retail. Mike retired recently (he didn't say anything to anyone and stuck around for a year to assist in the ownership transition) and it remains to be seen if the new owners can possibly fill his shoes. I doubt it! Mike knew I was fussy about wood handles and always let me know when a new shipment came in, and he was embarrassed for quite awhile in not being able to bring in anything but Garant stuff.

This is the second of my Snow and Nealley Hudson bay heads, I used a HH house axe handle for it that I reshaped a little. Wanted a kindling splitter and this seemed like a good choice since the grind is pretty blunt on this one.

I have a couple more to post, but the lighting is awful on the north side of my house right now. I'll try again tomorrow when I'm home for lunch.

It doesn't compare to what you guys do but it's mine and I like it.

thats a good lookin double, if your handle breaks, make sure to get one with grain running parallel with the blade, not perpendicular, it's okay it just adds more strength to the handle

Yeah, I noticed that too late. I got this handle as a project to help gain some patience. I loved the shape, thickness and color of the wood and I knew it would take me a lot of sanding and rasping to get it right. Generally I don't have the patience but I wanted to get past my normal comfort zone.
Then I noticed the grain. Ughhhh.
Hopefully it will last. If it doesn't, I will get to do it again. :D
