What did you rehang today?

That's a classic Craftsman color from the 50's-60's. Probably a Vaughan-made broad hatchet. It's in great shape.
That's good to know about the color. I've got two craftsman single bits that are that green color. It reminds me of my father's thermos he brought to work when i was a kid. I know it was a different green but it always reminds of that anyhow.
That is a beautiful broad hatchet!

Oh it's absolutely a Vaughan.
When you see M in the stamp like that ( not a random M on the back...ect ) then it's the OEM code sears used for Vaughan & Bushnell MFG.

I managed a couple today. Neither came to me with a handle but these two handles I have had and waiting for the right heads.

This ones a keeper for sure...

Two beautiful hangs and one gorgeous plumb! Holy moses that thing is NICE! Unique. Don't see many in that pattern. At least i don't! It's nice to hang an axe for someone. Well done!!!

Some nice work. Today I cleaned up and hung an axe head that I can't seem to find anything about - I obviously searched, but came up with zip. Does anybody know of, or have ever heard of a Les Casey?

I have image's, I just can't add them as I've no idea how.

You have to use an image hosting site to post photos. I use postimg personally.
Thanks for the tip. Seems like the Casey is a rare chopper given the lack of feedback - I'm in Aus, so I'm thinking it's most likely Aussie made.

In regards to image-gate, I've downloaded an appropriate app and have absolutely no idea how to access it - are there any instructions, tips or hints or does every member pull a portion of hair out trying?

Maybe this will help!

[L.E.] My bad, the link is actually https://postimages.org/ (not the one mentioned in the video), but that shouldn't make such a big difference.

Love that cedar axe! The Plumb" Para El Cedro" marked ones are always priced out of my range, but I always have a weather eye out for one!

I personally have to click on the pic which makes it blow up or else it won't show up on bladeforums.

That was a Stanley vacuum bottle. Not the same Stanley as tools. They still sell products with that color scheme.

I've got a large stainless STANLEY / Alladin industries VaccuV bottle and it keeps stuff hot for a very long time.
A friend bought it for my dad back in the 80's while he was an orthopedic technician in the ARMY, he used it from then through every other MOS he had so the condition isn't great.

It's actually much easier than that video shows.

Just hit the link, hit upload, once uploaded scroll down to the hotlink for forums and hit the blue icon to copy it then just paste here.

I finished this one Thursday night. I showed the head before in the 'What did you re-sharpen' thread. 1960's Woodslasher boys axe.

This is a really nice Do-It Center handle that I'm guessing was made by Link/Seymour, maybe out of the Sesquatchie plant. At any rate it came in hanging shape, nice and slim, straight-grained, decent swell, almost perfectly shaped eye. I used the stock poplar wedge with some DPG and then coated it with tung. Mostly all I did was refinish it with BLO and tung. It shows a decent amount of curliness.

Photo came out blurry but it's perfect grain from end to end. I saw another really fine boys axe handle at Do-It Center last week. It didn't have the curliness but was otherwise as fine as this one.

My buddy got a hella deal on this. Basically just parts plus $20 for my labor. He loves it.

I've got a question for y'all. I was given a Vaughan axe head awhile ago and I'm planning on hanging it soon but I don't know what handle to put on it. I'll get more pics soon but I'm considering my first straight handle. I know I like curved ones but I'm leery of trying something new. Could someone who has used straight and curved handles on non-rafting axes chime in?
