What did you rehang today?

I'm not that far along yet, I've got the hatchet and a boys axe in cedar pattern, I love the boys axe best of all my axes!
One of these days I need to talk you out of one of those air dried staves, horizontal grain preferably, just to go against the grain, so to speak, that horse was beat down pretty good in another thread! :)

Just let me know when!;) My staves are rove thick, so it would be up to you how you want to orient the grain.

Quinton that is a great looking Plumb hatchet. I am liking the forward bend to your handle as opposed to being primarily straight. Also, I think the rounded butt on the swell looks really well done.

I'd be proud of that work.

Thank you. It feels really good and balanced in hand, and it should make my grandson happy next month!:)

amazing handle with a great curve to it Quiton, i love hand made handle, but they are so much work to make.

Thanks, Remzy.. Homemade handles are a lot of work, but it is soooothing to me working with a good hunk of wood.

I had a couple of free hours yesterday, so I decided to hang a little Plumb BSA head I had laying around.
Squaring the stave. It has amazing grain at 6-7 rings per inch.
Lovely to see this! "That's as good as she gets" when it comes to haft selection.

Nice old 3 lb. head, nice 30" hickory stick. Going to make another hybrid haft, octagonal transitioning to oval at the grip. It's an after work hang, so It took a couple of evenings.

Hewed to rough shape.

Had a Roy Underhill moment. :) But, the important part is done..the handle is through the eye.

After some rasp, and scraper work.

Straight as a gun barrel!

amazing work Quinton! like me, it seems like your project isnt official unless you spill some blood on the wood... its inevitable for me anyways.

Thanks, Remzy! That old Black Diamond rasp cuts wood like butter, and skin too! :)
