What do you REALLY carry every day?

Fortunately, I have never considered myself "real people" :D

It sounds like the original poster ran across one of my pocket dump pictures. I get that reaction a lot. Yes, I really do carry all that crap around all the time. All of it gets used regularly, most at least daily, and some, like my Leatherman Wave, gets used several times an hour.

As for why I carry a dozen or more knives, "because I can" is always good enough for me. I also have been running an informal, continuous steel comparison test for the last twenty years, and such a test is more informative if you have the steels on you to use side by side.

In the city I carry a Kershaw ZT Scavenger or a Kershaw Scallion, keys with a Princeton Tec Pulsar2light on the keychain, wallet, lighter, mints, cell, and watch. I keep it pretty low-key unless camping/hiking or on a road trip but basic survival kits are in my backpack, car, and apartment just in case.

lately its been a emerson CQC12, fenix P2D-CE w/a leef tube, surefire L4, kahr PM9, i spare mag, punch OC.

not packing my PM9 on me as much now, not everywhere like before, mostly keep it in the car, new girlfriend isnt into guns at all, thinks i'm being "paranoid" if i wear it all the time, usually its in the car and she doesnt even know it.

hopefully i wont need it fast,

Eject! Eject! Eject!

ARC AAA
red photon I
spy capsule with strike anywhere matches
cheap butane lighter
Leatherman micra
Wallet etc

Thats it as I cant carry a pocket knife here in pansy-land. (But its ok for teenagers to run riot and shoot each other...)

It depends on what I'm doing, wearing, where I'm going, etc..., but most of the time I just carry either my Cold Steel Kobun on my belt, or my Cold Steel Voyager Tanto in my pocket, and my Gerber Scout 600 Multi-Tool on my belt.

If I'm going into the woods, then I usually add my Cold Steel Shovel, Trail Hawk and either my Spec-Plus Marine Corps Knife, or US Navy MK III Dive Knife. Sometimes I carry a Cold Steel Light Machete, or Kukri as well, and a Cold Steel Bushman on my pack. I keep several Cold Steel Sjamboks in all my vehicles and one by the door to the house.

Semper Fi!

Everyday? On my person a S&W 637 w/2 Speed Strips, mini griptillian, Fox OC Spray, Wallet, and Palm Treo, and key chain with my Victorinox Gigabit Tool.

In my "Go" bag, which I have with me every day, there are two Speed Loaders, My Sig P229 in 9mm, my Leatherman Multi Tool, Firesteel, Streamlight 1L Twin Task Light, Compass, Small First Aid Kit, Sunglasses Case, Granola Bars, and Nalgene Bottle, along with any files or things I need for work.

I see a lot of pics and talk about guys that claim to carry four knives, two guns, and three flashlights every day but I just don't buy it. Unless they are Police or military, why would you pack so much junk around every day?

So, what do you real people carry everyday?

My current carry is a XX Case that could be part of a wireman's kit dating back to Korean days when I ran an 18 man commo section. Might be a look-alike but it is ancient.

Personal carry revolver is a 5 shot .22 Mag that will hide in my large hand. It is a close-work weapon & I don't plan on being mugged & robbed by 2 high-flying crackheads . Lost over $1,000 that time.

Today:
LF: Car/house keys with a Micra
Fenix P2D 100
Opinel #6 C/B
RF: Cell
Pen
Electrical tape
RR: Wallet

Belt: BRKT OMF in custom kydex

That doesn't count what is in my camera bag...

i carry a SAK soldier in my pocket, a small fixed blade( either a spyderco streat beat or a RAT 3) attached to my belt, a folder of at least 3 inches in blade length( it varies) clipped in my right front pocket, 93 mm spyderco rescue in my back pocket, surefire L4, motorola Q, and my keys. I never leave my house without the items.

Although my loads get lighter during these Alabama summers it is not unusual for me to roll into work packing 2 multi-tools, 2 knives, and 2 flashlights with the intent to test out 1 of each. I try to stay in the 2/2/2 range because it's nice to have a back-up of my essential items.

Here's what I've carried for at least a week this past month.

Hey, how do you like the CRKT multi-tool?

Surefire E2L in the compartment behind the seat, usually a slippy in my front right pocket, maybe a one handed opener in my back pocket, no guns.

Why not a Keltec in either .32 or .380? It would carry about as easily, be easily hidden in your "large hand" and be much easier to shoot in a defensive/mugging situation.

Just curious what brought you to the 5 shot single action mini-revolver as a viable defense gun in a state that has concealed carry.

To answer the root question here, because I don't like being dependent upon others. Especially when most others are unable to even depend on themselves!

Case in point: I went to a church group get together, about 20 of us. Someone brought watermelon, but no knife to cut it. The watermelon was untouched for hours.

Why?

Because NO ONE HAD A KNIFE to cut it open.

I lost track of the people that touched and rolled the watermelon, looking for a knife.....that they expected SOMEONE ELSE to bring.

That all changed, of course, when _I_ decided to have some watermelon! I cut some for everyone and it was gone.

This is a simple example that involved no shots fired or bloodletting, but what if something serious were to come up? Should I rely on others to rescue me?

No, thanks, I'll take responsibility for my own safety.

Pretty much the same thing I've been carrying 100% of the time for the last 5 years:

SAK Yeoman
Kershaw P/S Leek
Space pen
Wallet
Leatherman Juice S2
Hanky
KelTec P32 with an extra magazine

every day
my 1911 and 2 spare mags
my benchmade HK 14900SBT ( used to be a spyderco delica first generation)
my fenix p2D
My Nalgene wide mouth water bottle
Swiss tech utili key on keyring

In vehicle
a ready bag in the car with first aid and survival equipment and extra socks
a point blank level IIIA vest and kevlar helmet
ak-47 with 500 rounds

That is the sheep mentality.

I prepare for the worst. You never know when a natural disaster, terrorist attack, economy collapse, riot, etc will happen and if I am separated from my home I want every chance I can to get home and survive in both urban and rural environments. I have full battle dress including level IIIA vest and kevlar helmet as well as 500 rounds for my semi-auto rifle in my truck at all times, especially now in the day and age we live in. One terrorist attack here can cause panic, looting, and turn normal people into animals in short order. The government and police are not to be relied on. Rely on yourself.

Not to presume to speak for Uncle Alan, but here's my $0.02.

My Keltec P32 broke in my pocket, in a holster, just sitting there. The mainspring just snapped. I never had a gun do that before out of .. well.. lets just say a WHOLE lot of pistols. I had just broken 600 rounds through it and had given up on hollow points and decided that I would just carry FMJ in it. That day it was my only carry gun, and I would have been seriously screwed if I had needed it. When I called them about it the company wanted to charge me to fix it! :jerkit: I know several people that have them and love them. I also know several people that have P3ATs and they are very finicky to say the least. No more Keltecs for me.

My NAA 22mag Mini is almost never my only gun, but it does get carried a fair bit as a second or third. It is small, but nasty at point blank range and very simple with few moving parts so there's little that can go wrong with them. I much prefer a .38 Airweight as a hideout gun though.

Right now I have on me / in my pockets:
Knives : Spyderco blue ZDP Delica, Victorinox Stayglow Explorer, Victorinox Alox Pioneer Settler, Leatherman Squirt P4

Lights : Fenix L0D-CE, Fenix E0, Milky custom Surefire L1 (sometimes this is replaced with a Fenix P3D)

Keyring / Misc : Inka keyring pen, 4gb U3 USB drive, Micro Sharpie, P38 Can Opener, 4 small safety pens, half dozen or so small to medium bandaids in my wallet

Guns: I generally don't like to discuss exact details online, but suffice to say 10 rnds .38 spl +p at hand and 45 rnds 9mm+P nearby ( with the proper delivery systems, of course :D).

I have more toys in my Maxpedition Fatboy and in my truck also for emergencies.

Was chatting with a gun dealer about the .410 derringer & he said, sure,if I wanted to shoot myself in the gonads, that'd be what he'd reccomend . Suggested I carry what he did & produced this Mag that he said hit like a.38 .

I have a .32 Colt that fits well too but it is heavier.
