What does your forum handle mean?

This was a fun read and made me feel like I know many of the people here better.

My story is pretty simple, I'm a veteran and my MOS (military occupational specialty) was military policeman. Hence XMP. I've used it for years on neary every forum I've been a member, so I kept it here for continuity.

Just Aim, Xqueeze Xmoovly. (& shoot at least two... "XX")

Actually, it has more to do with photography these days...

Some guy I know.

No real story with mine. I was doing a 3-5 stretch in Statesville and my slowdance partner Q-tip gave me the name and it just stuck with me. Like I said nothing special, the usual nickname story.:)

My usual handle and the one I originally joined the Bladeforums with is "HomeGrownXC". It dates back to the 90s when I was really into Mountain Biking and Schwinn HomeGrownXCs and Yeti customs were my bikes of choice (still have my Yeti).

I change my handle to "BusseCollector", so that when I posted on behalf of the my reference site people knew who I was and of course because I collect Busse knives :D

i remember reading this shortly after i joined, not sure why i didn't post in it then.

when i first started going online not too long after bulletin boards came about, i would think of george orwell's book "1984", which is the story about big brother watching everyone. the main character was named winston smith and for some reason it seemed appropriate. i've used it everywhere i've joined since then.

Based on my middle name (Marion) -- and where the family story says it came from. Several men have had the whole Francis Marion stuck on them -- luckily I wasnt one of them.

Brigadier General Francis Marion
"The Swamp Fox"

Francis Marion was born c. 1732, in Winyah, South Carolina, and died Feb. 26, 1795, in Berkeley County, South Carolina. An American military leader, Marion led daring raids against British troops during the American Revolution.

When my mother told my older sister that she was going to get a little brother, she said that she would rather have a Teddy Bear. My real name is Chuck, so my mother told her she could have a Chuddy Bear.

catspaw - a remodeling carpenter's tool; usually for removing nails that shouldn't have been hammered - or shot - in the first place. A nod to a 25 year construction career.

A rampuri is an Indian gravity knife with a 6'-12" long blade. It was made infamous in the 19th century by all sorts of thugs, goondas and baadmaash.:D

My screen name was a tossup between rampuri and ukku. Since there was a member with a name kinda close to ukku, I chose rampuri.

A relative's name, many generations ago. Bartered for one of the first cuttng tools made, black with natural handle.

From the '70s when I was bouncing local bars and my fellow bouncers would tell rowdy patrons, as they pointed towards me at the door, that if they didn't leave peacefully they would sic that big M*therf*ckin' HAWG on them. Those days are long gone but occasionally I am recognized by an aging yuppie as the guy that threw their old roommate out into the parking lot somewhere. Now I'm just known as a big, sweet, ole Granpa...with lots of knives.
