What does your forum handle mean?

The meaning of my handle is twofold.

1. its the condensed form of a band name that i like
2. I like camping in a remote area if possible and the name kinda stuck.

I especially like the second half of your answer.
I only camp in parks anymore, because I'm with my family. I grew up camping in pretty remote places. My mother liked to explore abandoned properties wherever we travelled. So, that brings me to your sig pic. If it existed, Silent Hill is somewhere I would travel. Camp out with triangle head and show him some INFI and how to really abuse a knife.:D
Anyhow, nice handle you have on ya!

Hey all. First off, mymindisamob, Silent Hill does exist. Well not quite, but close. I think they may have based it on this town in Pennsylvania where an underground coal fire is still burning and has been for about 30 years. Ash is coming up into the air, and parts of the town are collapsing. It has been evacuated except for a few die hard residents. It's called Centralia and there was a good write-up on it in the May 2005 issue of Smithsonian. Weird thing is I saw the movie and said, dang that's based on a real place. I've heard of that. Next day saw the mag with the article.

My forum name means lizard. It's a shortening of my email address. I like lizards and set the account up while studying in Ecuador.

I've visited some pretty cool places, maybe I'll be able to check the place out that you mentioned. The absolute coolest, creepiest and memorable place I checked out, as far as abandoned and remote places, was a monastary outside Baton Rouge on a large bayou, that DuPont later demolished.

Is your avatar a Carolina Anole, I can't see it very well? I've been a reptile person for over 30 years. What's your favorite lizard?

THere are lots o creepy places in Louisiana!
What year was is demolished
I'm thinking it was 89-90.
It was a multiple (12?) floor monastary that was later a bootleggers landing and supposed Mob gambling house. When I jumped the fences, security immediately came after my buddy and I. We spent all night exploring this place and dodging guards. Many upper levels had collapsed and the basement was flooded and full of critters. There was quite a bit of voodoo evidence to be found. Anyhow, quite a bit of my history is tied to places found in the backwaters of Louisiana and Mississippi. Not an area that welcomes me back warmly, but I still desire to explore down there. Beautiful country, but like you say, Creepy.;)

Mymindisamob,
I believe that is indeed a Carolina anole, I shot it on the ECU campus (Greenville, NC) a couple years ago. My favorite lizard would have to be the Komodo dragon, there's just something really neat about a 10 foot, carnivorous lizard.
