what food would you misss the most?

Bagels with cream cheese and lux on top with a fresh tomato and a cup of orange juice.. Some of the black bread with cheese and fresh vegtables.... I can come up with a few foods... Almost always carry some bagels and some cheese with me on backpacking... call me Crazy but when you stop for a break and have some bagel with cheese its the best thing out there....

If I had to go more than 2 days without peanut butter I'd probably drown myself in a 2" puddle on the trail :)

Oh, and no Grand Marnier would suck.....

Coffee... and the Cheeseburgers from my favorite dirty, dive diner here in town. You cannot stay clean eating one of them.

Okay, I'm a junkie. Actually a "girly-junkie" because the one item I would miss the most is diet cola. :o I probably go thru two liters a day! I know it is a useless and most likely harmful concoction but it is what I miss when I go backpacking. Sometimes I'll even sneak one along. Bonus points if I can sneak it into my buddy's pack! :D

Ususally I have some waiting on ice when I get back to the truck.

Coffee

Don't have a food one as such, but a food texture – crunchy. Days on end of soft, sloppy & gloopy really sux. The craving is for something crunchy.

I remember going on alot of long canoe trips and wished that there was a lakeside Pizza joint together with a beer store that could deliver directly to the fishing or camping site.

caffeine in general would be the first because I know I have an addiction to that stuff. Pizza would probably be in second place

physically: coffee and alcohol
alcohol can be made from almost anything, caffeine sources are scarce in most places
psychologically: REAL Mexican food (not Tex-Mex!!) and a certain other psychoactive herb that shall remain un-named ;)

It has been theorized that the reason salt and sugar and fat tast so good is that they were often lacking in the primitive diet. It is your body's way of telling you to eat more of it.

edit: sourdough is easy to come by, provided you have some gluten rich grains from which to make flour.
