what food would you misss the most?

When I was in brazil, it was Peanut Butter. Here in China, it is a real, grilled steak. Any cut will do. Granted, it is not the wilderness, but those are what I crave after being away from the foods i normally eat.

When I was in China and needed a protein fix I went to a Korean Restaurant. Lots of beef, lamb and pork. Yum.

Kamkazmoto, you are correct! Meat is easy to find here. But a grilled steak is not. the food here is excellent, as in Brazil, But its those common things you just can't find that you crave. in Brazil, the peanut butter was heavily mixed with granulated sugar, American Peanut Butter was hard to find.

Actually, a lot of the food i've been eating regularly here in China is the kind of stuff you DO find in the wilderness. I have been learning many ways to fix bugs, fish and odd critters that I never would have thought of back home.

My mom's home made Vietnamese food. Probably her steamed rice and special tofu the most though. Mmmm...

Pizza, waffles, barbequed anything. I am craving one of those big street vendor sausages with like 30 condiments to choose from right now, so one of them, and what Rupestris said about the deli sub, man oh man, this thread making me hungry.

RC Cola, wow, havent had one of them in a while, I'd take one of them too.
And a wendys big bacon classic with chili and a frosty.
OK time to stop.:D

Coffee has got to be way up there...Cheesburgers, I would miss a lot. But the food i would probably miss the most is Beer and Clam Chowder. (garlic Bread too)

Another vote for coffee!!!

Maybe I'm just not envisioning the same kind of scenario here as many, because I see lots of things listed that can be made yourself. Heck, growing up on a farm in the Midwest, several of these things we regularly did/do make ourselves. Bratwurst (spiced differently to make other kinds of sausages such as pepperoni), bacon, smoked & cured ham, steak, beer/cider (never tried distillation since it's illegal, but it's certainly possible), cheese, and anything made with flour... We have thousands of bushels of wheat, corn, etc., stored on the farm so I don't think we'd run out of flour. I make sourdough bread about once a month now; of course I'd do it like every day if that's all the bread I had. So for me I guess long term it would be more like exotic spices and foods that I'd miss.

I don't know if I could point to something that I would miss the most. I don't remember ever craving something when out on the trail. I guess water tastes really good when you are truely thirsty, and de-rehydrated food is pretty good when you are truely hungry. I know that at the end of a long hike those mountain house packs taste pretty good at camp. But, when chosing the first meal back in civilization the main factor is "just so long as it is NOT mountain house."

Oh yeah, I don't drink coffee.

Hopefully someone is now working on a tutorial titled "the amazing bushcraft brewery made easy".
'cause if they're not, there will be 4 of us at the bottom of that cliff. Besides beer, I couldn't care less.

You know - I have been thinking about this thread - and I think what I would miss the most - as far as volume - is COLD ice water.

I know it is lame - but I think that is it.
