What is your #1 folder around $1k

Nice knives, anybody ever lose a 1000.00 pocket knife. I lost a 500.00 pocket knife and that was rough. I couldn't imagine losing a 1000.00 dollar pocket knife. I wouldn't mind one of those Russian knives but I'd have too put a chain on it so as not to lose it.

This worries me. I've never lost a 1000.00 knife, but just the thought of it has me consistently reevaluating my edc and overall purchase decisions. These days I won't buy or own anything over the CRK or Hinderer line price tag. (and I'm broke as a joke)
If I ever lose one it will surely hurt....but then again life is too short to tread without a decent knife? :p

Probably something from Alan Davis.

However, right now I'd put that money to a Ruger GP100 .327 Federal mag and ammo.

My suggestion for a #1 folder for $1k is six Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1's or 2's. Buy them, sell five, keep one, and with the money you saved buy your significant other a new bikini and take her to the Key West in the FL Keys for a nice vacation. She will love you for it and you will have a great knife in the bargain.

It's been my personal experience that after about the $240 - $450 range you're paying for a name.
Some exceptions would be the Shirogorov's and a few Rocksteads. Higher end midtechs are where I have seen the best made knives for the money. I've been nothing but displeased with custom knives approaching the $1500 - $2000 mark, I've never spent more than that and if I did it better come with counseling or a "happy ending"....
:D
Final answer: Shirogorov for $1000 Alex.
I guess it depends, I have a handmade demko ad-15 that was more than $500 and it is fantastic. But most of the time I won't go over $500

This is my favorite reply/post of this thread. We try to hit islamorada or key West once a month. Eventually planning to buy a house down there. Next trip is March because February is full of Polaris RZR riding trips.

A $1000 knife will probably be worth more in two years than a $985 car with a pizza box inside. :p
Be closer to a $700 - $800 car.
I would need to fill the gas tank, get registration, plates, insurance, and I would get XL or XXL thin crust pizza with 4 or more toppings that would last maybe more than a single meal. :)

As far as I can remember, I've never sold (or pawned) a knife in my "life". I've given a few away, and lost a few, but never I've sold one.

And while you are there you can check out the knives. The fisherman and scuba divers there all have a favorite or two. They are a responsible bunch though and I don't think anyone would pay $1K for any knife.

I just looked them up and they are crazy expensive for basic pocket bricks with weird handles and grinds. They start at $800 for cpm154 and titanium slabs and go up from there. Also lots of oversaturated HDR pictures.

I've been following Dan for awhile now with high hopes, but most of his stuff just kinda looks like a modder got a hold a Medford...

If I had the money to burn I'd get a Bob Loveless Delaware Maid Hunter knife. Way more than $1K though. I guess I'll have to do with my Gayle Bradley, my EDC since it came out.

At least once a month - I debate selling my entire collection to fund a Loveless drop point hunter and just carry a Sebenza
