What is your absolute favorite knife?

Regardless of brands, blade, steel, or lock, what is your favorite knife of all time? I'm talking sentimental reasons too. Pics would also be great. My favorite is my old clip point Case I bought at a military history festival. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Tough question. From a practical POV, it is almost impossible for me to choose. My favorite knife will vary from day-to-day depending on mood and chores to be done.

[Edit: Some possibilities:
  1. William Henry T12 Onyx
  2. JK Knives The Tool
  3. Northfield Western Outlaw in natural stag
  4. Dark red jigged bone Peanut that is always in my pocket
  5. Manix2 LW, translucent blue]

But from a sentimental POV, it is pretty easy. I inherited a Buck 701 that was literally in my Dad's pocket when he passed on. That knife is very precious to me.

I have a couple other nice knives (Gayle Bradley, Manix in M4), but this is the only one I've carried since I got it a while ago. It's by far my favorite knife that I've ever had, in terms of everything you can think of: usefulness, comfort, attractiveness, edge holding/ease of sharpening, lock, smoothness...anything!

My Emerson Commander feels molded to my hand, is one of very few knives that is comfortable enough to be in my pocket for 10-12 hours at a time, and has never failed to meet or exceed my expectations.
It is not pretty or exciting by any means and that is why every scratch and scuff just adds character and lets me appreciate it even more.

Just finished getting the edge ready for another month of service.

My favorite is the snody boss. I bought it on sale for about 75.00 from Mike. This knife holds an edge better than anything else I have. Sorry, spyderco, benchmade,BHK,folts, lonewolf, buck, kershaw and PBJ.

My favorite is the Southard which I bought as consolation for missing out on green PM2. Its gentle curves and smooth action tease to be handled.

My favorite knife is this, a JK Canadian Belt Knife... seems that no matter what else I carry, this one is always with me.

Though I don't have a picture of it yet, I recently acquired a Boker jack knife with a sheepsfoot and a pen blade. Finally a pocket knife I like enough to carry more than twice:D

Hard to single one knife out. When ever I use either the Humphrey Pig Sticker, the Scheppmann Hunter or my made by Lars Bushcraft knife, that is my favourite knife.

The Cold Steel Leatherneck series is my favorite. I prefer fixed blades over folders simply because they can offer superior ergonomics, and they're stronger, even if I don't get to carry them often. The Leatherneck series exemplifies everything that I want in a knife. Tough, rust resistant and easy to sharpen steel, a high hollow grind with a 5mm thick spine, a slick and less reflective coating, thick steel guard, a nonslip, hand-filling grip, a thick, wide full tang, a machined steel pommel, a secure polymer sheath with a drain hole and various carry options. On top of all this, the value is sky high at less than $50 in some places.

My favorite folder is also by Cold Steel, the Recon 1. If you read about why I like the Leatherneck, you know why I like the Recon 1. No gimmicks, it's all about business. And then there's the Tri-Ad lock...
I'd go for Cold Steel if they just slightly upped the blade steel to something like 154cm or vg10. I reeeeeally miss the Voyagers in VG-1. Mine was bombproof and stayed razor sharp forever.

My favorite is definitely the PM2. Didn't think I'd join the crowd on that one, but the ergos are perfect for many grips, the tip tapers down to needle sharpness so it has massive penetration without having to stab or fight to dig into materials, the edge is super easy to sharpen and stays sharp for days if not weeks of constant every day use. I completely trust the compression lock to take whatever I dish out. It snicks out like lightning and closes just as fast one handed with or without gloves. Plus it's so light it disappears in my pocket. Pretty much one of if not THE perfect knife. There's a reason they make it in multiple steels.

My favorite for the longest time was the Benchmade 710. I have one in 154 CM, 2 in D2 and 1 in M390. The ergonomics are great and the knife carries so well. I love how smooth the Axis lock is and how easy it is to flick open. The blade is a little on the thin side and I am concerned about the omega springs failing (after all the rumors).

I switched to the Microtech LUDT for an everyday carry and am absolutely in love with that knife now. It had one of the sharpest factory edges of any knife I own (and I own quite a few). The S35VN steel takes an amazing edge and holds it very well. Sharpening is fairly easy as well. It is a very efficient package that is very easy to carry. The LUDT is nice and light despite having a fairly thick blade. The knife opens very quickly (never opened unintentionally) and has zero blade play. The only thing I regret is not buying a bunch of them!

As for looks and collecting, I have a Chris Reeve Large Sabenza with a Devin Thomas Ladder Damascus blade and a Large Sabenza Insingo blade with a carbon fiber scale. I haven't brought myself to carrying my Chris Reeve knives since they are so "pretty" to look at.

I have some nice knives - StarTac 'zaan and small Sebbie; JYDII SG2/Ti &TILT!; Benchmade 630 & many others; and a bunch of others I really like. But... the longest period of time that I have been enamored by one model knife is most of four decades - and that knife is a Buck 110. Although my original is long lost and I don't often EDC one, I still have a love affair with this knife like no other knife. And... my favorite Buck 110 of all time is likely the Buck Custom Shop 110 below that they made for me some years back:

Teardrop Damascus, nickel silver bolsters, and flaming Koa wood scales made that knife an instant keeper. If a calamity befell my home - and I could save but one knife - that'd be the one!

Stainz

PS Re the BM Omega springs. I have over twenty BM's equipped with them which I rotate through - and never a problem! Don't repeatedly 'twang' it and it will serve you well! Re the 710... KW had a 710-M4 made for them - nice variant!

I have come to finally accept that I don't need a large knife for the outdoors. And the ESEE Izula 2 is a wonderful little cutting tool.

My two (actually 3 if I count my new Xl tanto) Clip PE Xl Voyagers, I love the steel and graceful sinuous curves on my old pocket worn "friend", and I love the beefy, secure, you-can-totally-beat-the-crap-outta-me style of the newer one with that Tri-Ad lock, flat ground blade shape is nice too. For folders IMO, "beefy", and "reach" are what counts. :) I do see some real beauties on here though!

My favourites are:
Fixed blade: My two Roselli puukko's
Folding: Enzo Birk with curly birch scales.

that is what holds me back from buying a grip.

You're like a broken record man. Any folding knife lock can fail. After having disassembled & reassembled my Ritter grip numerous times I can say with confidence that I have no doubts as to the dependability of the omega springs...and guess what? Should they fail you just replace it. (or have BM replace it) It's not rocket science.
