What is your absolute favorite knife?

I have a couple other nice knives (Gayle Bradley, Manix in M4), but this is the only one I've carried since I got it a while ago. It's by far my favorite knife that I've ever had, in terms of everything you can think of: usefulness, comfort, attractiveness, edge holding/ease of sharpening, lock, smoothness...anything!

What model is that? Very nice looking!!!

currently this is 2013 Spyderco forum Native5. Dark green g10 scales S110V steel.

You're like a broken record man. Any folding knife lock can fail. After having disassembled & reassembled my Ritter grip numerous times I can say with confidence that I have no doubts as to the dependability of the omega springs...and guess what? Should they fail you just replace it. (or have BM replace it) It's not rocket science.

i'm just a concerned consumer and i want the most bang for my buck. i get the impression that 1/4 of the users of the axis lock experience some kind of problem with the omega springs breaking. maybe i'm reading into it too much.

my douk douk is my favorite, i know it's weird but it fit my hand just right ;)

No offense intended, but where did you see that statistic? I've got over a dozen knives with the Axis lock, and not one problem - even though I actually use my knives often quite hard. People who complain about spring failure by posting are far outweighed by those who have no problem and have nothing to post about. Internet common sense.

So, sorry, but I just don't see it. Failures exist but 1/4? Someone would have to prove that to me. A 25% failure rate is enormous and I just can't accept that as realistic.

Thanks, I think so too! That's the Benchmade Shot Show limited edition griptilian. Same design as the regular griptilian except that it has stand offs, g10 scales, and well hardened M4 steel. It also has a more wear resistant pocket clip. It could be coincidence and just be my particular knife, but it seems more solid, too. If feels exactly like a fixed blade when locked.

I just want to say that I like this post a lot.

Id have to say the BM mini griptilian. I think I relpied to this in my 940 stage, but once again I come back to the 556.

that is what holds me back from buying a grip.

The key word is "rumors". If you are not convinced by this point that the axis is reliable I think you have found your answer: don't buy one. The axis is reliable and benchmade has great warranty/customer service, but there is a point at which trying to find out if its reliable turns into trying to prove to yourself it is not.

As for the thread, my favorite knife is my Spyderco Native. It was a great gift at an important time from an important person, so it has sentimental value. Aside from that, I have tried quite a few more expensive bigger/smaller etc knives and I keep putting the native in my pocket. It's a great knife.

I have a hard time choosing between any of my EDC rotation: Blur in S30V, OD-1, JYD2 composite, or the RAM. Probably if i HAD to choose, it'd be the Blur, but if the RAM was in S30V, it'd be the favorite.

I have to say my Gerber Yari.
It's the original version, plain edge. 154CM
It's been a wonderful knife and I have another NIB in the safe.

The spyderco stretch. Nothing can keep it out of my pocket. I have bought a lot of knives that just sit around and barely get any pocket time unless I force myself to use them so i don't feel like I wasted money.

+1 on this, exactly what came to mind.

Wow. Tough thread. So many good choices that I have to go with sentimental favorites here, my Imacasa and my Spartan. Years and years and years of use. Like your favorite booze, you might go higher caliber, you might take a chance on something new, but you always have that standby...
