What is your workhorse blade?

It would be my old Coldsteel CarbonV USA SRK. She did everything everyday for 6 good years until she went into the bandit 250 chipper. At 7,000rpm edge to edge she was toast but she took the blade with her cracked it in half!:(

2 more..

Landi MPS and my trusty EDC Benchmade mini-griptillian.. this sucker is definitely a workhorse...:D

Far right please Jim:)

Pics of my workhorses to follow.

Tried many, always gravitate back to the BRKT Fox River as my do everything knife of choice. Canadian Special is a very close second.

Everyday: Benchmade Mini-Grip or RAT Izula

Hiking/Hunting: RAT RC-4 or BRKT Fox River (I sold my first one and had to buy another one shortly thereafter. Just couldn't live without it.)

Alot of great knives mentioned here! My most used knife for the outdoors would be the one in my Avatar! Made of 01 by Brian Andrews it has taken on a rainbow of colors since I have it. One day I will clean it up, but for now I love the character it shows!

I have put a BM 910HS through the paces for years. It has never failed to do whatever I have asked of it.
My abuser fixed blade is an Ontario RAT TAK. Pretty dog gone tough blade, and it has been made even better by Simon's convexing. It just plain fits my hand.

But if I am headed for high country, the Dozier PGK tags along.

It depends on your definition of workhorse...

The blades I abuse. These are used to chop roots, strip wire, cut wire, cut against metal, cut sandpaper, pry with, everything you want to do with a knife but aren't supposed to ;) They are cheap, and I don't care about their longevity so I don't hesitate to regrind them after I put some big dings in the edge. The long steak knife used to be about 1/4" wider, and had alot more belly.

As for my blades that I actually like :D They have all served as EDC for a time, some of them for quite a long time (relatively speaking for this crowd :o ) The one on my belt now is my woodjewel, which I actually forgot to put in the picture. I trust all of my EDC blades to cut for me, and cut very well. I use them well, but don't abuse them.

The one on the far left is one that I'm just finishing up, it will go on my belt next. It's just waiting for the sheath leather to come in the mail, and then it will be in pants and on my belt faster than you can say shazam. I have some in progress shots of it, I'll do a longer writeup once it's all together.

Hey siguy, how long is the blade on that opinel? I can never seem to find one over 3.25"

This is one of the few knives I have that I would seriously feel bad about if I lost it. Most can be replaced, those with memories can't. This SR Bandicoot has proven to be one of the most useful knives I've ever owned. As you can tell from the pics....

For yard work duties gotta go with the Bark River Golok. For general camping/hiking duties it's my Dozier Pro Guide.

My everyday workhorse blades are the okapi folder in my pocket , or the kat knife on my keychain .

Knife in my pocket does everything from slicing salami to peeling goats and other game .

the one on my keychain opens packets and stuff .

Seriously good to see a thread of pics of blades showing signs of use , makes my heart glad :)

sodak. Yep that one looks like a old friend.:) What is the blade length on that one?

udtjim,

What model is that orange handled JK? Is it the anniversary knife?

My workhorse is a Bark River gaurdless Snowy River or my modified mora 711, one of these goes everywere with me.

The one I use for stuff you shouldn't really use a knife for is the serrated blade on my leatherman wave.
