What is your workhorse blade?

My RAT Izula comes with me every time I go somewhere without pavement...
It slices, it holds an edge, it's not too big/heavy, it's tough.
It does most of the things I want a knife to do, in a very small package.

all knives in the above posts are excellent tools.
i am impressed

here's my line up
Spyderco Tenacious, gets used everyday. i keep it sharp. really a decent knife for the pp. more handier than it's big brother Manix.
Tenacious is not a good whittler . not many knives are.

rotated with and Older Delica. replaced the blade with a ZDP189 and have not had a chance to use it. maybe does not count?

i've got a hundred pocket knives, can't carry them all.

BRKT Kephart. what a swell knife. simple design .
works well in the kitchen, the backyard, camp, cutting up wiener sticks fuzz sticks , whittling ,food prep. don't mind using it hard.

i have a few of the others listed by posts above and they are excellent tools

The heavier duty lock blade SAKS from Victorinox make pretty good whittlers and have a robust set of tools, like the saw, that expand their use in the field.

Thanks for the info.

Yes that is the JK anniversary knife. A real tank. Right under that one is the one that John called the Suoer duty. I think that is the only one he made.

What are the specs on that bottom one please. Does it go by a certain name?

Seriously good to see a thread of pics of blades showing signs of use , makes my heart glad :)

I've always thought used knives look better than when they were new. I think the same thing about rifles and shotguns too come to think of it.

Anniversary EDC.

3" scale to tip blade (John can make it any length though, his prototype had a 2 1/2" blade but I wanted 3"). 6 1/2 " OAL. 1/8" thick O1.

For scale....

Next to my Victorinox Hiker...

My workhorses were stolen two years ago. Thats how I came to blade forum, trying to replace my knives. The two knives that I use the most now, are a Mora Clipper ,and a noname JK that I call the Hornet.

sodak. Yep that one looks like a old friend.:) What is the blade length on that one?
The edge length is 3.5 inches, 4.5 to the beginning of the respirene handle. Just the right size for me, I've got medium sized hands.

I find that my favorite knives are not necessarily the ones the use the most, funny thing...

Here are some my most used blades:

12" and 14" Tram
SAK Trekker
Imperial Pro-Skinner
Bearded Hatchet/cleaver

I've used my Victorinox Tinker Swiss Army Knife more than all of the knives I've ever owned put together. I've owned it almost 30 years if I remember correctly.

I've had the scales replaced once and they 'sharpened' it without me requesting that. They sharpened the points off the blades and it was the crudest sharpening I've ever seen but with the new scales it looked almost new.

I just had it professionally sharpened at a knife and gun show and it's still amazing. It has points on the blades again.

About the only thing I don't use it for is cleaning game. The blood gunks up the little folder too much. For game I use a Buck 102 Woodsman. That's a great little knife.

I bought a Buck Vanguard at a previous knife and gun show and had my Buck 103 Skinner professionally sharpened at the recent knife and gun show. If I had sharpened the Skinner first I wouldn't have bought the Vanguard. I'm going to start using one of these two for carrying around my property when I'm not hunting. They're both great practical knives.

I have a few, because of different environments. But these are on my valet shelf and I'm always carrying one, usually carrying 3 of them.

Clockwise from left- small necker, small shortfinger style EDC with firesteel, al-mar slim tactical folder, larger green river style utility knife. And an SAK.

The necker is tiny, the pattern 1 variant. Two finger handle with a bird's head, very secure grip. The small EDC is about 2.25 in the blade and carries very well in public spaces where people complain abut my shop/yard knife. The SAK is...an SAK.

The shop knife is 5160, first knife I ever forged (not made, forged) and it's a true workhorse. The sheath is an early expedition style with a widgy and a pen on it. The Al-Mar is my slim knife for when I'm doing soemthing involving unstained clothes or whatnot and can't carry my regular gear.

For about ten years now my SOG Bowie has been my edc fixed and my go to work horse knife. However since, as some say, the times they are a changing...this is the role I intend for the Sojourner that I got from Bryan to take over, that was the reason for the features I designed into it.

Landi PSK medium size is my main fixed blade. Use for everything from wood work to gardening to hunting. Either my SAK farmer or recruit is always in my pocket as well as a Spyderco Lum.

Yard work I get my Bark River Golok out. What an awesome tool that is.

Some real nice looking stone blades! Build my own and they are remarkably effective (I teach flintknapping - blades and points). A worthwhile craft that any serious outdoorsman would find valuable and enjoyable.

You are most talented as usual. Too bad I don't live close. Regards

Id say my workhorse blade is my plain edge SAK OH sentinel.

Its in my pocket 99% of the time. Lightweight, thin profile, go ol' SAK stainles steel. They are inexpensive so I dont hesitate to use it hard. It makes a great EDC folder. Mine doesnt have the pocket clip, but they do make one with a clip....

Wow, that looks great  I've always liked the blade on my OH Trekker, and that seems like a great way to carry it easier, especially with a pocket clip. One more to the wishlist :o
