Never gets old
So after speaking with Enrique Pena and discovering he didn’t have replacements but had longer ones he would cut to length if I sent the knife in to him… I decided to head to the ol’ garage and use the belt sander and do my own dirty work.Question for y'all folding knife folks. I have Pena X-series Trapper. I need another small screw. I may or may not have lost one, and/or don't want to use the pocket clip and with out the clip, those screws are too long. Anyone have experience with finding screws for that specific knife, or recommendations on where to look? I have emailed the store I purchased it from, they said not replacement screws on their end and recommended I email Enrique Pena directly. I did that, and awaiting a reply. I also emailed Reate as they "manufacture" that specific knife.
Best I can tell it is:
Torx8, button head, about 3.9mm wide, and 2mm long thread, with thread being 2mm wide.
Thanks~
The wood looks fantastic. The screw holes are a little wonky so you likely need a more rigid setup. So after speaking with Enrique Pena and discovering he didn’t have replacements but had longer ones he would cut to length if I sent the knife in to him… I decided to head to the ol’ garage and use the belt sander and do my own dirty work.
And it worked!

Yes. Those holes were the toughest part. My low end drill press is exactly that, in combination with it not secured to the table. Multiple attempts to get it just right ended up with what you see here. The wood looks fantastic. The screw holes are a little wonky so you likely need a more rigid setup.
There was a thread in Shop Talk not too long ago where Devin Thomas recommended a certain drill press vise that tracks accurately in both horizontal directions. It would be satisfying to treat yourself to that. I might grab one myself soon.Yes. Those holes were the toughest part. No plans on going professional or selling my wares. But always looking to improve.![]()
Love a nice Lanny's Clip and this one qualifies.Well, since we're talking about Enrique, here's a couple of his custom knives I still own...

It's what Tony Bose would have made for me back around 2007 or so when he asked me what I wanted...but he didn't have the right sized steel so he made me a Back Pocket. Somehow, I managed. (Though the Lanny's was my first choice for a single blade.)Love a nice Lanny's Clip and this one qualifies.
