Like with other luxury brands, there is some hate out there. Also, when you buy a used Hinderer, there's a good chance that the previous owner loosened the lock, because (s)he couldn't wait for the detent to break in.
Finally, I'm absolutely thrilled about the Auto I just got. Very safe lock, full Ti, brass washers, no thumb studs or flipper getting in the way, all around a _great_ knife. That would be the perfect first Hinderer, IMO, where it's allowed (like in Utah

).
I've had many Hinderers .... and a couple of disappointments (E. knows). But a failing lock was never an issue, and soft M390, 20CV or Magnacut was neither. They keep going.
