What knife slowed you down the most?

I CAN totally understand THAT!! WOW!! That is beyond sweet!!

Thanks, I made it mine by adding the Steel Flame bushido dragontail pocketclip and Ti-Fighter thumbdisc, plus the Emerson blue titanium domed pivot. The lanyard bead was the incredibly generous gift of the seller. It has been in my pocket since the day I broke it out of it's USPS Priority box prison over a month ago.

Oxman198,

A 5.5" clip point with a super strong lock and light enough for gym shorts, it can pretty much do anything.

I never really considered that a viable EDC or appreciated that handle until seeing your photo. I am not talking about the curve or the grand, luxurious length which are obvious . . . it is the kind of square cross section as apposed to the thin slab like handles that are more popular for being able to slide a hand in a pocket.

I am serious . . . I can see how that handle on the Voyager could be really practical in use.

Thank You for the education.

LOL, this thread doesn't apply to me! On average, a knife doesn't last in my collection for more than 2 months!

That knife fascinates me.

I was going to say . . . I saw a vid once where Lynn Thompson said of all the knives he could carry his personal preference was a small Hold Out III in his shirt pocket (it actually carries very well there by the way) and a big aced Voyager (his is a recurve). Granted that was a while ago and who knows now but I wondered why then but I can see it now.

PS: I've always like the Hold Out III and carried and used mine a whole lot.

Educate me.
I have never seen the attraction but lots of people like Gayle Bradley and he is a cutting contest winner. Right ?
Some body please send me a link to a vid or explanation of a cutting contest that GB would have participated in. (in other words I suppose there are more than one kind of cutting contest; obviously I don't know about all this).

Back to the knife . . . every body is all about "belly" and curve out on the tip and the Bowie is the "sheeeet" . . . then the Gayle Bradley gets all kinds of praise but is soooooo different.

What is up with this ?
Serious question now . . .

Knowing you, mate, and your likes, I'd say give it a try

After the Hold Out I and II, the XL Voyager is my favorite handle shape and grip from all my Cold Steels.

It is a beast easy to carry, comfortable to use and that shape gives your real length and reach while having a safe and strong retention in the hand. That butt grooves allow for an excellent pistol grip

And weight is really off the charts for a knife this size! The reason I prefer it to the Recon.

The best way I can explain it is to say, read the Gayle Bradley hard use thread on the Spyderco forum. That thread says more about the knife than I could ever try to explain.

For me it has been the Spyderco Pacific Salt SE and the CPK Field Knife. With it being summer I am spending a ton of time sweaty, in the water, or in gym shorts because it is so damn hot. The salt series was designed for such things. And the Field knife is the perfect medium size fixed blade for me. Everything else I have just doesn't compare.

The Emerson Mini CQC-7BW I picked up a few days ago has stopped me in my tracks. I'm not even browsing possible new acquisitions, and I don't think any past knife -- including knives that pushed everything else out of my rotation for weeks or months -- has done that.

This puppy is everything I want in a knife right now, and it's done everything I've needed it to do. It felt like it was mine right out of the box, and that sense of familiarity has only increased as I've carried it. We're buds now. :D

...actually feeling kinda satisfied with with everything I've got….

Well, that lasted all of a week, and only if you count the weekend day the seller couldn't get to the PO to ship.

You know how it goes, though--there's 2 or 3 I've been seeking for a while to fill some holes in the collection... Sigh….

At least one of these holes was in the collection's Wilson Combat wing. I swear I was just looking--browsing the WC website, checking out a couple vids and reviews. I went over to the Exchange--again, just looking, honest--and the first listing was the very knife I'd decided I liked best among the missing WCs. For a real nice price, too. The seller kinda freaked out when I posted "I'll take it" cause the knife had been up there like 20 minutes or something. Damn Knife Gods just won't let me live in peace!

Maybe this'll be the one that slows me down.

Yeah, right.

That's a good one. The Gods in mythology loved meddling in human affairs. You know what makes the whole thing so damn interesting is the wide variety in taste and all that is offered up for purchase. This truly must be a Golden Age for knives.

My Tom Krein Alpha. I'm truly content with this knife, I've bought other knives since, but mainly just models I've had before that are in new flavors of steel.

My girlfriend stalked me on here and then got me a Spyderco PITS around this time last year for my birthday and I haven't bought a knife since. I keep coming close to pulling the trigger on a Kizer Laconico Gemini, but I'd rather take her out to a shmancy dinner with that loot instead.

I like your take on this. The Classical view with capricious Gods tempting us with jewel-like trinkets. Or maybe couch it in religious terms, like medieval European Christians in search of the Holy Grail (knife). Much more seemly than having a sordid blade addiction. A Golden Age fraught with perils and its own mythology.

Whats slowed me down the most is the constantly rising prices. The latest reate is now 425.00 I guess the days of the 200.00 reate are gone. That's 1 of many examples that are putting my brakes on.My days of 400+ knives are gone, ive got everything I want right now,its really going to take something special to get me to get anything else right now, unless its a bargain on the exchange or elsewear.....

This one. Kinda lost the urge for another pocket knife. I have a good selection to choose from but I always seem to reach for this.

Paramilitary 2 and the ZT 0452. Between those two, I haven't had the urge to get many more.

But oddly enough I think this one pretty killed my folder hoarding for a good while. I havnt considered another folder since carrying it. A 5.5" clip point with a super strong lock and light enough for gym shorts, it can pretty much do anything.

I just bought a small Sebebza 21Celtic today hoping it will hold me for a while. I'm not sure if I'm sorry to hear it didn't stop you. I think from my watch collecting habits I'll be happy for a while and I tend to keep the really good stuff so this will be a staple..but I will probably continue to buy and churn at a lower level.

Not sure I will be slowed down by anything again. Shame we can't breed 'em like dogs or horses.
Of coarse I would cross a pit bull with a greyhound hoping for the skinny bit up front and the substantial bit in the back and get the opposite . . . damn thing would probably always be tipping over onto his face when ever he tried to bark.
