What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

If you please, I'll have the Kutmaster blade on the Keen Kutter frame and handle. I like the color and how neatly the pins are done.

The round bolster on the Robeson looks odd to me, as well as the long pull.

You reap what you sow.

I'm up a creek!

My newest addition shot in two different angles of light. As usual, fit and finish is top notch.

Thanks again Charlie!

My pleasure!:)

Big grin. :-)
I discovered it while doing a passing impression of a responsible adult. ;)
:D
A year ago, adding another knife (of all things!) seemed absurd. Imagine!

I cannot image that at all!

I prefer the blade shape of the Kutmaster jack to the others. Seems a little sleeker and more stylish. The long nail nick on the Robby looks a little awkward. JMHO ;)
Robeson Barlows of that era are strange little critters!
They have some nice features though!

That old Kutmaster sure is a dandy! Love that blade shape and that bone
is outstanding... Thanks for sharing Charlie.

I am sure enjoying all the fine Barlow pictures being shown, here is a Blue Pocketworn Case Barlow;

In reading here I have picked up a couple of references concerning a Sheepfoot blade Barlow soon to be coming forth - can one still be ordered or reserved, or was this a "order in advance" only deal? Thanks, OH

Visitor Message left. :)

-- Beautiful blue barlow above.

All three Barlows can be easily pinched open, despite good walk and talk.
The respective sheepfoot blades all have plenty of pinch area. And of course you get good leverage, grabbing the blade near the end.
On the Jack, I can just barely grab it - it's hard enough that i would not use that method if I carried that knife.

Those sheepsfoot blades are looking good!

I can't wait to see photos of the first ones produced! Here is another shot of my newest Charlow while we wait for the sheepsfoot version to show up...

Me too! They look very similar in profile to the Kutmaster at the bottom!

They sure do! What a happy coincidence.

:p

This bodes especially well for the closed presentation of the knife; it's one thing to see the line art, quite another to see actual blades.

Soon.

hello gentlemen,

Could anyone around help me with a quick question... What is the weight of one of these Charlows? (single bladed and double bladed). I just can't seem to find a weight for this one or even for the similar GEC#15.

Thank you!

That's a great looking sheepsfoot blade! Is it for the new Boy's Knife?

Edmundo, the TC Barlow single blade clip weighs 2.1 oz. and the double blade weighs 2.6 oz on my postal scale.

Really unsure as to whether this is a true Barlow knife, or a Jack knife with a long bolster; at any rate this is a Case Bros. Razor knife from 2007. OH

In my opinion, the bolster is not long enough to call it a Barlow.
Also, it is not traditional to have a cap bolster on a Barlow.
Nice knife though!
