What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

I was answering by memory Augie and sometimes that isn't as good as it used to be. 🥴:) I think it is at least pre 1940 after looking further. If we can pin it down, I will put it in my knife records. I looked and did not have a year range for it in that space. Both blades marked the same:

1899 catalog shows a similar model on the bottom

I think you are closer to that 1899 date than the 1940 based on the stepped bolsters and pick bone, great and rare barlow.

Remington again today. This thing is wicked. Can't believe how good of condition it is.

The blades were in good shape when I got it bur slowly stopping them into a good level of sharpness. Cleanly cuts paper anyways. I don't thinknits ever really been sharpened.

Almost feel bad using It but that's what they were made for.

It's not factory, Jack - It's had the talented ministrations of one of our local Knife Talents!!
It was either Eric, Glenn or Evan - I'm trying to remember! (Oldster's lament!! 🤣)

had me fooled Charlie!!! I was wondering if there had been many true stag single clip 15s, off hand I cant remember too many myself

Because they are Tidioutes, TCs don't get "First" Stag handles, only Third Cuts - - - - - - - - and a lot of convincing!! GEC policy of course!!
Were there any Stag Northfield 15s??

not to my knowledge, but every year I go to GEC i try to convince Bill to do a luxury version of a 15. I almost bought sterling slabs last time
The only northfield 15’s I can even think of were Charlie’s radio and harness jacks.
I see an open canvas there for you :)

scrimshaw scrimshaw scrimshaw!

Oh, the pressure!
