What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Thank s John . That is basically what I have seen also . I am starting to believe that mine was Probably made by Queen and Re-Covered and one of the PINS was purposely left out .

Harry

Another possible explanation Harry is that it is a factory sample made for Effingham. I have a Queen factory Winchester barlow sample that has been confirmed by Bill as being made by Queen, most likely less than 5 made. Charlie, Lyle, myself and others sat around a table at the Rendezvous several years ago and we listened to Bill tell us all about his time in the cutlery industry and about this Winchester sample knife.
Interestingly enough my sample is missing the 4th pin that the Queen made regular run barlows had.

Was sorting through a few acquisitions from the past couple months and decided to clean up this New York Knife Co barlow. I had to put new edges on it because the old ones were chipped up from rust and I didn't want to risk further damage.

But I noticed that the tang stamp reads only "NEW YORK" on both blades. Nothing on the back of the tangs. The bolsters are stamped with the typical N and arrows compass that I've seen on a number of NYKC barlows.

Anyone ever come across this tang stamp before?

Nice example of a hard to find barlow, I have never seen one just marked New York, it looks legit, maybe Charlie has seen this before.
