What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Okay, I have to ask. Where is the best place, other than the Traditional Sales forum, to try and track down a Charlow/Spear? (Red bone is preferred)

I've never had any luck in the WTB forum here as I don't think many people check it. Thanks!

Got my first Charlow in the mail today from GunstockJack. This after completely screwing up an order from Mr. Charlie himself (don't ask). Also thanks to "paulhilborn" who graciously offered to help me out when he found out I was looking for one. I am pretty new to traditionals and can already see it opening a black hole in my pocketbook.

Looking throughout this thread and elsewhere I've noticed my Kabar barlow is somewhat uncommon in that its bolster is "bare". Most seem to have either a company name/logo or simply "barlow". Does anyone have a preference, does it matter when considering a purchase? Personally I'd have to say bare bolster is preferred, company name/logo is ok but having the name of the pattern stamped on the bolster just seems odd to me.

Loving this Barlow Charlie :)

Did you get my emails?

Jack

That's an awesome Barlow you have there Erik! I absolutely love mine - single spear blade - and it's with me always.

Jon, Those mock up photos look great! Not to mention your fantastic collection.

Charlie, I think trapper Charlows would be a great idea!

Many thanks to Charlie for helping me track down a Charlow. It should be here next week hopefully. Can't wait!
