Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
I KNEW you were intrepid Sarah! Glad the "~P-Barlow" was along for encouragement - not that you needed it!!!! Great pictures. How long does that climb take??
I've done it in 3 hours and some, but this time it took closer to 4-- I was exhausted well before leaving PA, let alone embarking on the hike(!). But it was worth it.
Two days before I left for NH, my oldest son was married. Joining me for the day was my older brother and his near-20 son, the first we've all seen each other in over 14 years.
My brother was fascinated by my Russell barlow (which I used to cut my food throughout the reception). The next day as he was preparing to leave, I brought out the Russell and again explained its age and provenance, then showed him a TC barlow in saddle brown-- "This one was made between the wars... and
this one was this year."
Then I told him that the saddle brown TC Barlow was, of course, his. Once the hoopla had subsided, I gave my nephew a TC Barlow in rust red.
The wedding. Such joy and heartache all at once, unforeseen and unfortunate difficulty from extended family to and through the event.
Nothing and no one could diminish
this, however:
