What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

OK, 'fess up. Who just snagged a saw-cut razor Charlow tonight?

Inquiring minds want to know. :)

I got one of them :)

I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw them, and didn't want to hesitate like last time and miss it.

NO need to be tempted - I fess up and the last one is gone!:D

I would not have done it if they hadn't been talking mean to me over in the other thread - just getting even! :D

Nice catch, guys. I can't believe those two knives sat there unloved for nearly two hours. I wanted to grab one but I've already exceeded my monthly knife budget several times over.

Of course, this morning is a new month. ;)

Great shots folks, those new Charlows look stunning.

It's Yorkshire Day here, so I'm carrying something from Sheffield, a Sheepsfoot by Trevor Ablett

That's nice! How's the F&F on these Sheffield made barlows? I was considering a Farmer's Sheepfoot by Arthur Wright but was concerned that the fit and finish was a bit of a lottery for online purchases. Are these any better or is it still wiser to see and feel them before committing?

I have to thank you for the tip addylo - as soon as I saw your post, I went searching and found me the last two bladed saw-cut red Stew's Blade. I have exceeded my knife budget for July, as well, but, I figure I will take the Charlows while the gettin' is good and maybe budget less for August, unless a two bladed walnut clip comes available, or a two bladed antique yellow saw-cut sheep foot is located, or . . . . . :D

Now that one is mighty unusual Jack. Thanks for showing it sir!:eek::)

Nice portrait!! I would like to replace one of your other pics with this one as my desktop, Primble - if you don't mind??!!

Waynorth - you are always welcome to use any picture I post, but, make sure you keep a copy of the red bone group. You might want to go back to it. ;):D

Duncan - thank you for the comment ! :)

Packing for Titusville, lawd willin' and the creek don' rise.

My carrying solution isn't optimal, but I'm enjoying the new juxtapositions all the same.

Almost all of my #15s fit in the Top Tray...

... though not for long, if all goes well. ;)

I can't wait to see the newest barlows in person!

I do not have a new one to Debut this year. They were finished so early, I sent the Stew's and Tom II's out to the dealers.
There will be a small group of previous runs that I saved up for the event though. Just a few; I wish I had more.

Thank you Linus  I don't like everything about Trevor Ablett's knives, but have found the F & F to be good. Unfortunately, buying an Arthur Wright knife by mail order IS definitely a lottery, their QC is very hit and miss, and F & F CAN be terrible, a shame as they CAN produce a nice knife.

Thanks my friend

Quite impressed with the travel tote and especially the contents ~ P.!!!:eek::eek::eek::D

Hope everybody has a good time at Titusville.

I would bet on you finding a few more at the event. ;):D

Primble, I don't think anyone ever gets tired of your photos being reposted. :)

How many knives have your pictures sold? Somebody should pay you a commission. 😉

Well, chalk up one more. I'm quite happy with my Chestnut Bone Stew's Blade. But your photos were too tempting. Just bought the African Blackwood to keep it company. 😃

I just got this one in today. I am very very happy with it. You will love the African Blackwood! I also have the two bladed Chestnut Stew's Blade enroute. That gives me an almost complete set of the two blades in this run, lacking only the 2 bladed walnut, which I still hope to get. :) I have sure done a lot of snooping and scurrying and such to find them all, but, it was worth the effort!! ;):)

I will post some more pics of this red saw-cut with open blades, hopefully before the witching hour passes.

After my chestnut arrives, I plan on making a trio shot of my three Stew's blades, a special wallpaper tribute for Waynorth and Stew.

I guess we will see how that turns out. :D
