What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Evan you always have the most lovely charlows, that 3rd cut stag on the top left is STUNNING!!!

I like the 2nd and 3rd cut stag better than the figured stuff. I always thought it was like a quality rating, like a high school football team. But I like yours better.

I agree, the first cut stuff is sometimes a little too uneven for my tastes, but the 2nd and 3rd is really nice.

In that case, let me get rid of that ugly clip point for you. You shouldn't have to look at such an abomination. Blechh, eww gross.

Evan, you have a fine collection of TC "sub-collections"!

Jon, I am forwarding the pics of your beautilicious Case Soupies to Bill!
Hopefully they will influence the outcome! I am biting my nails on this one. I know they will be nice, regardless, but I am hoping that old Red Bone rubs off a little!

I can't split up the family, no knife should come from a broken home :)

Very cool Charlie, glad I could help ya out a bit :)
Case really did an amazing job on those 60-70s red bones, nice appaloosa effect.
They will be very special regardless, but if Bill can get close to what case did that will take them to a whole other level for sure!

My newest additions and first sawcut - managed to trade a red bone Marlow for it. Absolutely fantastic knives both. And now with the anniversary Charlow coming up, you couldn't smack the smile off my face.

Now if I can track down a sawcut soup bone, I don't think I'd ever get out the house in the morning. I'd be paralyzed with choice.

"Hey Mik, what's that in your pocket?"
"It's four pocket knives, mind your own business."

Well crap! This thread has been really hard on me since finding it. I've got a bunch of really cheap Barlow's, but nothing nice. Just a bunch of rough riders and a few of the new $5 schrades. Now I really am longing for something really nice. You guys have some amazing Barlow's.

I posted this last night and was asked to see better pictures. Here are some I took in the woods today where I harvested the Whitetail that I used for the scales. Thank you all for the many compliments on here as well as via PM or email, I appreciate it.

I too am excited-in fact extremely excited about this new line of Barlow from Charlie- Red Soup Bone.... its going to be a massive ask to get even close to the early Case Red Bone - but we couldnt start off with a better knife and thats a TC Barlow!!...i have never been so struck with such a knife- amazing knives ......

Which leads me to my next say :D

I have missed out on many of the later TC's...I dont know why I seem to miss the Train, I think its a conspiracy :eek:, but I was so so lucky to be able to score these four the other day, I got a bit battered with Primble and Paul elbowing, Barging and kicking their way past me - Whew - talk about instant rabid behaviour, well I picked myself up, dusted myself off and quickly wiped my tears away before they could see and took what was left- their hands were full and the ran out hollering Banshee type of Victory cries......

Oh man....... check out the lovely Bone on this BEAUTIFUL knife...... incredible......:)

The Antique Saw Cut is incredible...what a beautiful, beautiful knife...... Paul has this ones Ebony brother, when taking photos of these knives I stopped and sat back and sipped a cool Beer and marveled at this Stunning knife - I really felt good at that moment - honestly..it was great.....

Man.... this first run was stunning - its hard for me to say that I think that this was the best - and yet every knife that has come out has been 100% Wow factor - I do apologize for raving, I find it hard to express how much I love these knives, AND how much I appreciate everybody behind the knives......., anyway back to this beautiful Rust Red Bone Saw Cut Spear...

Speaking of red Bone....... Along comes this awesome Clip-Point TC II, Man-what a sweetheart of a knife!! - Thank you to Charlie for his dreams that became a reality that has taken me and shaken me to the Bones!, and thank you to Barry for having the drive to turn his passion into a well driven business and is simply a wonderful person to deal with.............

Group shot......:D

Wow!!

As an aside I've tracked down a company that sell peel off, disposable plastic screen covers if anyone's interested!!
