What Makes a Good, Traditional Barlow?

Nice Morel Barlow, Glenn and Rob!! The bolster and bone are just badddd!!!

I carried a Robeson Barlow for a few years - they are pocket-friendly in the extreme!! They are hard to find with a nice, full bolster stamp.
Thanks for showing them, Gev and Mark!!

I'm new to the forum and to the world of traditional knife collecting. Needless to say the Barlow bug has bitten deep, to the point that the first thought that enters my head daily is "how do I get a TC Barlow". If someone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated otherwise I will begin searching for a twelve step program for Charlow junkies. Thank you.

watch the exchange forums(<<good), or the auction site (<<not good)

At this point I believe all the Barlows that have been produced have been sold. I believe there are future runs to be made.

and they have even more information on their blog site, including a list of GEC distributors (why that list is not on their main web site is a mystery to me.)

If anyone wants to offer anything more specific, please comment via email or VM.

I was looking through one of my Slippie Tube boxes for a 2011 Bladeforums knife Tube that I have just done a swapsee for a Charlie HJ , also a tube for Cory - as his knife leaves today as I have been waiting for a safe time to mail these knives out ( Post shop has just opened today )...but I was looking through this box hat contained only Charlie SFO Tubes - Oh Man some of them are great! - some very special ones there with notes from Charlie written on them - and what is annoying is I do have another box with more tubes in where I am sure there are some more SFO Tubes in there...but do you think I can find it!!!!:grumpy:

But I stood back and thought..... Wow.... theres a lot of tubes there.... and thats just for Charlies knives
I am now about to start tearing the house apart looking for the other box - I know it is smaller so it could be anywhere - I hate it when things go astray!

Lol,,congratulations Duncan, you're officially hooked and now you know it! I recognize this because I too am an addict and have been for years!

WOW DUNCAN!!! I have GEC tubes but knowing those are SFO's...you do have an impressive collection Charlie....errrrrr.....Duncan:thumbup: I've told you this before, but your the Charlie from down under:thumbup:

Only one thing to do, send me your overflow of tubes and I'll make all of us addicts a really nice house to live in.

Haha Perry... if only I could find them!!! But thank you Sir, and thank you Paul for your help my friend.... just fantastic - now Brett the Hj - well two or 3 Hj's I think are at Pauls House now with another knife so I do worry, as they may get "lost before the mail" into Pauls grubby mits and trouser pockets lol, pics will take a while as the packages usually take between 2 to 3 weeks!

Paul has himself helped me secure a Hj very similar to his latest - so Thank you my friend for your fantastic help.

Well, I'm glad you able to score yet another from the back history of Charlie's designs! They're not in anyway easy to acquire in the first place, let alone after many years have passed. Maybe you're hitting it at the right time though, do to some of them being in others collections for a while now. What's the handle material on the HJ?

Thanks Guys.... Perry Sir I have been very lucky to get a HJ 3 with Red Bone, I have also got a HJ 1 incoming with Worm groove Bone, and a HJ3 Stag as well, by the way I am broke....:(

The 2011 Bladeforums knife is a funny story, I was really lucky enough to find one again after I gifted mine to our great mate Jack - and missed the knife as it was my fav... so this one came up - and I was really lucky to grab it - but when I was sorting out the payment details with the seller of the HJ3- he stated he was looking for a 2011 E/O ...well I looked at my Visa...and the only sensible move was to do this :-( , they are such a brilliant knife!
